My friends always (in a joking way) make fun of me for my "hacking skills", but compared to lots of others on GBAtemp, I'm just a noob

Anyways, cant wait for animated banners. And looping music!

Looks great and very professional except for the OrangeChicken text/logo plastered on them. I don't know the specifics on why you feel disrespected or having past creations (banners?) stolen but if putting your name on them makes you happy then good for you. I can say this, you will get more respect for sharing your techniques on banner creation once you have it at a point you feel comfortable with it. If you try saying all people using our tools/techniques must include a credit/watermark/whatever then I think you know how much respect you will get.

Again, great job for investing your time/talents into this.

Nice!
Can't wait to get my hands on those tools or on a howto....
What's interests most is the filesize??
How big would an animated channel be?

The animated channels are the same size and, in some cases, smaller since the audio can loop.

Gundalf, still before Xmas or has it moved back some?
The special "milestone" is still being worked on. If you've seen some of our work, you'd know we like things to be perfect

We're currently inputting ALL our information into one large wiki. Give us time, and the info will be released soon enough. No need to make us sound cocky/evil, we keep the public in mind

As for watermarks, if you're saying the tools will inject a watermark into each animations made, why not? You DO know all current homebrew wads have a Paradox watermark in them, right? As for 0RANGECHiCKEN actually doing this, its unlikely.

Thank you all for the kind words though, we appreciate them.

am i the only one that doesn't mind it having the logo? sure it would suck if you made your own banner but from what i see in the youtube clip theres not much to improve i would stick with those.

will the ones in the video be released? or will it just be the tools?

Thanks for all the info and well done on the animated channels - thats pretty much all the community was missing to make these channels look brilliant.

I also agree with wiisel - if they are going to show others how to do this , theres no issues with them having their name in the banners - even if they dont show others its better than a static channel and they do deserve to have a name in the channel , though i personally would prefer a blank one , but i wouldnt complain since they made all the effort on this.

The wads will be released simultaneously with the "milestone". As for tools, they will follow eventually. The wiki will come first though.

I had no intent of making you "sound cocky/evil" at all. By 'watermark' I meant a visible artifact/graphic in the banner itself, not something resident in the code that identifies it's source. I didn't know that there is a Paradox watermark on all current homebrew wads - is it visible or code that we are talking about?

I think I must have interpreted your previous posts incorrectly - I thought you would not be sharing your new discoveries based on past slights and thefts of your work without credit. I look forward to your Wiki and further creations you and others make with it.

Paradox has 2 watermarks: One is just the text "PaRaDoX" placed into the banner via Hex Editing. It was easy to remove / replace. The other watermark of his is in the icon part I believe. It says something along the lines of "This is Paradox's dont use" or something like that. You dont even see this in the channel unless you actually go and edit and it doesnt make any difference.

That orange chicken watermark seems to be directly part of the picture and it would take some photoshop skills to remove it. This is much harder to remove than Paradox's.

I dont care if the channel releases of orange chicken have a watermark. I just wish that we will have the ability to create our own animated banners that dont have the watermark to look more "official." Thats all I'm hoping for.

paradox also uses watermarks in the alpha channel of the menuscreen1.tpl. ;-)

I'm sure deba and his crew will deliver some great way to animated banners.
I wonder if U use tga files for the animations....
Maybe you can give out some details...

Which filetypes can be used for a background sound?
Which filetypes are used for animation?
Do you release an de/encoder for bns files?

what else?

thank u in any way.
:-)

The video is just a representation. No one has these wads other than ourselves. I don't see why you all are worried about the watermarks, they aren't final.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for typing our name, how bout we all just make it clear to ourselves that the name is 0RANGECHiCKEN
wink.gif
Thats {zero}-RANGE(like a driving range or any other wide open space|capitalized)-CH(sometimes used as a short form for channel|capitalized)-i(lowercase)-C(capitalized)-KEN(Barbies love of her life|capitalized).
0RANGECHiCKEN
We can tell you this:
Brlan: Animating still images.
Tpl: The still images being animated.
Brlyt: Controls/manipulates/positions the tpls.
Audio type:
BNS? Psssshhhh, we use wav. Looping is done by, well, looping the audio.
For more info wait for the wiki.
no problems with watermarks here, mate.
It's your work, so you could add what you want.
I'm sure u won't spam your app with visible watermarks....
...apropos watermarks......
I remember hot disscussion about them in the gamma thread.
We don't need it here...
