It can be played on any homebrew-enabled Wii or Wii U via Riivolution; no backup images or hardware mods needed. Online play is mostly supported thanks to the services of Wiimmfi and WiiLink.

- Phineas now visits the City more often, no longer relying on pure randomness.
- Wendell now offers the previously unused cookie pattern in exchange for an anniversary cake.
- Balloon appearance rate has been increased to 25%.
- The rate of flower hybridization has been raised to 15%.
- Two additional fossils are now generated each day.
- Save files can now be freely moved and copied between the console and an SD card.
- Save data graphics and text have been modernized.
- All localizations have been updated and enhanced for consistency.
- Fast text speed is now enforced across all scenarios for a smoother experience.
- Items are no longer picked up while running with the Z button held.
