I wanted to install Amiga Game Selector, the developer says the vita can’t handle files over 2gb, is this the vita it’s self or the memory card? Would SD2Vita over come this?
Thanks
Thanks
I think the file size limit refers to hdf files. This does not seem to be a limit of the sd card/memory stick file format (as fat32 would limit you to a 4gb file size) but is one of either the emulator itself or it's base (UAE) or limits with the amiga's hardware/filesystem/os itself or It could be a limit with the vita's file system/os too. It's been a long time since I used an amiga emulator on a vita or a pc so sorry if my assumptions are incorrect.I wanted to install Amiga Game Selector, the developer says the vita can’t handle files over 2gb, is this the vita it’s self or the memory card? I don't think that matters here as that problem is not specific to fat32 or exfat outside of Amiga emulation. I edited my reply so you might want to refresh this thread if you want to reply to me.The SD2vita uses exfat, from what I remember this removes the 4gb limitation. I might be wrong though.
It’s the Vita side that’s the issue, I’ve looked more into it, the switch has the same problem too. PC and android emulators have no issues, I run a 120gb hdf on windows uae which is cloned from my real Amiga 1200’s hard drive. Looks like I’ll have to stick to adf’sI don't think that matters here as that problem is not specific to fat32 or exfat outside of Amiga emulation. Glad you found out for sure that it's the vita's filesystem/OS that is the limiting factor. If you don't mind, i'd like to ask a few questions about your A1200 as I have had one in storage for at least 10 years now. Did yours ever have any issues with popped/leaking caps or a leaked clock battery if left unused for a while? I was loking to sell mine but am wondering if it would be worth a recap regardless as I got it for cheap and they go for some serious prices now. I only paid £50 for mine and it was in really good condition, had all the original disks it sold with and a scart lead as a bonus. It’s the Vita side that’s the issue, I’ve looked more into it, the switch has the same problem too. Thanks for taking the time to reply to me and letting me know of any problems they might have. Guess I better dig mine out and have a look. I am in the UK. If I DM you what city I live in, is it possible you can recommend someone? I'd prefer a while you wait service if that is possible or a registered business like a specialist repair shop. If not, NP. I can always ask in the amibay forums or the english amiga board or the trading area here.Mine didn’t have leaking caps but I’ve done a lot of 600’s and other 1200’s with leaking caps, very common issue and can make a mess of the motherboard. It’s mainly the 500+ with battery issues or an expansion with a battery.
If you are in the UK, I can recommend a few people. I don’t do them for customers as I just don’t have the time.
