Hi,

I was just wondering, could someone give me a list of all the plugins the AKAIO has, as in the form of the extensions. I checked out the wiki, but it doesn't really detail them properly. Thanks in advance.

Just some multimedia. Put Moonshell on your AK and you don't need to worry about it anyway.

I think the only original one on the list is the wi-fi, pretty sure that's the one that updates the cheats database online.

wow plays avi??
That's awesome!!!
haha why would I need moonshell when I have plugins. I mean they exist to negate the need for moonshell right!?

you have to specially encode the .avi files to play on DS, I think moonshell (or SAkura DLDI)is a better video alternative

Again, you seem to have it backwards. The plugins are redundant of Moonshell operations. It can handle these tasks better because it's dedicated to this task. The scope of the loader is to manage system resources in getting things to work, the plugins are a silly idea anyway and should have been removed a long time ago.

And you're unfortunately naive if you think something like DivX avis downloaded from the internet will play on a DS. The point is that they just got Xvid to work under minimal circumstances, providing you've encoded it properly. At that point, you'd may as well be using dpg.

wifi is only called a "plugin" because it's external. in a sense, it's a separate program (like all plugins... rename the ak2/ak4 to nds for fun).

We've externalized a lot of the core with 1.3 (loaders, wifi), so we can update these things without having to do entirely new AKAIO releases. Technically, we could make loader updating a wifi function now

Yeah I understand the benefits of dividing it up. The ones covering extraneous 'features' like media playback, and some guy requesting a text editor, seems absurd. That's the realm of software, the kind that the loader is supposed to set up to run.

It's the same way with Windows. The OS is great. But IE is useless in a world with Opera (and to a lesser extent, Firefox). Media Player, Wordpad, MS Paint, Outlook--all of these are bundled but inferior to proper distros by third parties.

Plugins along these lines would be necessary if we were talking about APIs, but since we're not I just don't see why they're not dropped with a note telling people to go download Moonshell and DS Organize.

I found this Tuna-vids drag-n-drop converter on teh web, if you want try out an .avi on yer DS ....but, .dpg (moonshell) is better quality

If you want quality, use .dsm - but it takes a painful amount of memory (20 mins = 500MB) although you can alter some quality settings... I haven't played around with them too much.

The encoder can be found bundled with DSMplay, and it is played just using a plugin.

And I find it a lot nicer to be able to select the files from the menu and play them (especially mp3's) than to have to load up some other program.

Yeah, I've been mucking about with the tuna-vid player, and I can't even get the plug-in to work, but I launched it as a stand- alone and it really lags on a short 3min. video.

I personally like to use sakura for video, the GUI is way better and video quality is a bit better than stock moonshell.

I do use the mp3 plug-in, for quick-click convenience, so I hope that stays in AKAIO

AFAIK the tuna-vids plugin was only for AKRPG, but I also tried the standalone player and, unsurprisingly, go the same results - horrendous lag unless you put the framerate down to below 10FPS

mmmm... so what would you say to be the most efficient method of watching videos using the AKAIO then??

Wow... Now that would be awesome

*dsmplay = .dsm (high quality video, huge file sizes)
*DSVideo = .dsv (converted .avi or .mpeg files)
*lmp-ng (LicksMP ipod) = .mp3 .wav
*textview = .txt
*tuna-vids = .avi (Xvid video and MP3 audio)
*wfplugin (Wi-Fi)

I know this thread is old but if someone sees this and knows the answer...Thank You! How would you go about using these as plugins? The file extensions is .nds but plugins for the AceKard are .ak4 extension.
