So my brother dropped his dsl, now the "system files are missing", so i want to update the firmware through this website: http://www.acekard.com/download.php
But i'm not sure if i need to do the old 1.41 dsi patch (his acekard was never patched with this), or do i go straight to the new version 1.8.1?

Thanks in advance guys, your a great help :)

You're confusing "Firmware" with "OS." Firmware are the files stored on the card that make it run. The OS is the files that you need to put on you're micro sd. In this case the 1.4.1 dsi patch is a firmware update so the card works on a dsi with firmware 1.4.1 and 1.8.1 is the os. Unless you need it to work on a dsi with 1.4.1 firmware you do not need the 1.4.1 firmware update. When updating the os, yes , use 1.8.1 or tthe latest AKAIO (an unofficial os) which is better. I have attached a link to the AKAIO os.
