Ah, mandatory installs...

    After sitting through a 40GB backup at no faster than 9MB/s I looked into Bluray read speed and apparently that's the 2x spec, which seems kind of pathetic... then I looked into the 360's spec (DVD 12x) and it's nearly double at 16MB/s. This explains why nearly every game from the last year had a mandatory install. Pretty suck gen eh, either deal with installs or a loud DVD drive

    There are multiple benefits to using an install. If it was that simple then disc-based PC games would never need to install.
    There is also more to it than disc read speed. The 360 can handle certain decompression faster more because of the RAM.
