Hello all. I'm hoping you can help me with this. I've been following this guide : jisagi(dot)github(dot)io/SeedminerGuide/injection/

I've installed Boot9Strap on my 3DS and it seems to be installed successfully. However, the guide says I'm supposed to turn the system off and then hold Select while turning it back on, and that should take me to Luma. It says if it goes back to the regular menu, Boot9Strap didn't install properly. But I've tried multiple versions of all of the files, and even updated my system firmware to match the newest version of Boot9Strap, and no matter what it always starts up to the main 3DS menu. Any help would be very much appreciated. I'm using the latest versions of everything on a New 3DS XL. Thanks in advance.

It sounds llike you got 11.8 and a older luma version. Try the nightly https://github.com/Pirater12/luma-nightlies/releases/tag/79-luma3ds-89cc6ed as the boot.firm file that you want.

Luma doesn't load on 11.8 as of now.
Luma was fixed hours after that firmware got released. There are nightlies and the new 9.1 file for the fix.

Thanks for the quick replies. Unfortunately, no luck. I guess I should have seen that coming: I had the same issue with older versions of B9S and the system firmware. I followed the guide to a T; any other thoughts on what I might be missing?

Boot b9sTool again and tell me what options are available
"install boot9strap"
or
"restore stock"

Don't select any of these right now. (and what version of b9sTool is this?)
It sounds like you've updated in the middle of the process which is a no no.

Sadly, no. Sorry if that was confusing. b9stool seems to think it installed correctly, but holding Select and turning on the system still brings me back to the regular 3DS menu.

Ok, try this.

1. Boot b9sTool and select Restore Stock.
2. Turn 3ds off.
3. On the sd card find sdmc:/boot9strap/key.bin and rename that key.bin to danger_reset_backup (no extension).
4. Boot b9sTool again and select Install boot9strap. Reset 3ds and see if it worked.

Hi, not OP but I'm having the exact same issue; the method you just mentioned didn't work either.

Thanks for your continued help. Unfortunately, I'm still not having any luck either. Is it possible that I messed up an earlier step, even though I was able to get this far?

Everyone who was having the same problem as me: I found a solution.

1. Restore stock firmware
2. Find "key.bin" in your boot9strap folder on your SD card and rename it to "danger_reset_backup.bin"
3. Download the latest version of boot9strap (just updated a couple of days ago)
4. Try using that with the same steps and see if it works
5. If it doesn't, follow the steps listed in the new version's troubleshooting.txt file (involves resetting the backup and attempting a system update)

Note that in order to use this, you'll need the latest official firmware.

I can confirm that this works
