How do you add romhacks to the NSO emulators? For example, for SMW romhacks I use the bps files to patch the SMW ROM and then what? Is it possible for me to add these romhacks to the NSO SNES emulator somehow?

I've already tried CaVE, and I've had issues that apparently no one knows how to solve, so I'm looking for alternate options to get these ROMs into the emulator.

I don't think you will find any alternative to CaVe. I have put many romhacks in the NSO apps via CaVe, SNES games included, and they work fine. What issues do you experience?

1. The Sync option in the app won't enable, no matter how I connect the SD card to my PC - whether that's through the USB file transfer NRO or a SD card reader.
2. When I copy the generated database file manually to /atmosphere/contents, the app gets stuck on the logo screen with information about the CaVE version in the bottom right corner.

I don't mean to offend, but i really don't understand why there is yet another thread on this topic.

SNES ROMhacks are the easiest of the bunch to get working. You don't need any external files for Cave to get them working (e.g. .dtz for N64 ROMs) and you don't need to edit any metadata to avoid duplication or conflicts (I ran into this problem for GBA hacks, but they work just fine too.)

Simply put, if its not working, YOU are doing something wrong, not Cave. There are many users on here that will attest to that and will be able to provide proof - myself included. If its the Sync issue, use Hekate UMS to manually dump the created database files into atmosphere>contents. Its really not rocket science folks.

Failing that, talk to someone rather than cast out a unnecessarily large net by creating a new thread. I'm not surprised @DarkAkuma gets pissed off by requests that can easily be solved with a bit of research.

Edit: If the App crashes, its either a mismatched version (version created in Cave vs. NSO App) OR you don't have the right version of the SNES unlock installed. The app should still load if there's a dodgy rom in your database, it just wont boot when you select it.

I have quadruple checked it. Both versions match. What is "SNES unlock"?

If you don't know what it is, that is likely your problem. The SNES app needs an exefs patch to boot custom databases. If you look under the 'mods' tab in Cave, you should see it as one of your options. You need to move the patch to atmosphere>exefs_patches rather than leave it in the contents directory when you copy it across.

Edit: If 'Super Soccer' exists in your custom database (e.g. the app bundled ROM rather than manual addition) delete it. Nintendo lost the rights to it and has now been removed from the latest versions of the NSO app. You may be experiencing a crash because of a conflict. You can always add it as a custom ROM later if you miss it that much.

Yeah, that might be the issue... Thanks for the help! And I'm sorry for posting too much about it, but I really didn't know where else to get help regarding it.

All good! It helps to be among like-minded people to problem solve, i'm not nearly as active on here as i'd like to be now the Switch 2 has dropped and occupied all my free time :D

So I ticked the SNES unlock mod, saved the database and put the newly generated exefs_patches folder in the atmosphere folder on the SD card.

It still gets stuck on the logo, unfortunately... :(

Have you deleted Super Soccer? I edited my previous post to mention it in case you haven't seen it already.
