Homebrew Adding Icons to Icon-less homebrew

Just how hard is it for a beginner (such as myself) to edit the .nds files of homebrew titles to add icons to them?

I ask because I wish to add the Quake symbols to the .nds files of the 2 QuakeDS homebrews, any help?

It is easy for anyone to do it. Just use DSBuff:

It allows you to trim, unpack, change the internal name, switch ARM9, and change the icons.

does anybody know how to use 24 color bitmaps it only letsyou use 16 color bitmaps

It appears that 16 colour bitmaps is the max I can use. Looks good enough on my DS though. Now to do Quake 2

Use photoshop or gimp. You can also trick AK edit into doing so.
