Hmm.. what if all the RAM, all the resources, all the CPU registers were kept on your storage card instead of RAM? It would probably be possible... but slow as dick, and impossible to optimize.
The lack of a Memory Management Unit (MMU) on the DS makes virtual RAM operation like this difficult if not impossible.

In one screen have the PSP display condensed to fit but in the correct h/w ratio. In the other screen have a zoom in that adjusts the height of the PSP screen to the height of the Dual Screen and that truncates the sides. The scroll option would be one button. You start by scrolling to the right and automatically reverse when you reach the right edge. You only need to hold down one button to scroll where you want.
Even focusing just on the screen stuff; it still wouldn't work. For starters you've got a problem finding a button that isn't used for anything else in-game, remember the DS has no extra buttons that a PSP doesn't. Attempting to scroll while playing is beyond impractical, if you want to look left it'll drive you nuts waiting for it to go right and bounce back first. In platformers your health bars, traditionally placed top-left, will be permenantly off the screen. You won't see enemies coming. So before we even get to the technical stuff it's an impractical idea.

Having a screen"condensed to fit" is not a trivial matter. Then you want the DS to be capable of displaying PSP calibre graphics on not one, but two screens, which would have to be independantly controlled because they do not show the same image. Hell, even a PSP would have trouble doing that.

Face it, it's not going to fly kid.

The proposal calls for assigning coordinates to double press and triple press of the scroll button. The zoom in of the left side of the screen can be assigned to double press or triple press.

The game will see you pressing the button 3 times. Not to mention the fifty-million other crippling reasons why it'll never work. Let it go.

FACE IT. IT WONT WORK. (caps off)

I agree that there is little motivation to emulate PSP games on the DS. There are a few PSP games worth playing though. I would like to play Crisis Core.

Emulation has not been done so far because of the lack of motivation.

2 processors, one at 67MHz and another at 33MHz, and 4MB (or 36MB with external RAM, I guess) will not ever be able to emulate 1 333MHz processor, 1 video processor at 166MHz, and 38MB of RAM. (source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSP)

Do the math.

VRAM isn't a processor...

But I agree, people who believe that the DS can emulate the PSP are either stupid, or trolling, or both.

Hokay! This discussion is such a waste of everything you can waste in a discussion. Why not just stop talking and let this piece-of-crap topic slide to the last page...

should be reworded to
4MB Video Ram

You mean the DS? It's got 4MB of general RAM and 512k for graphics. Or do you call the ram where all variables and stuff gets stored VRAM aswell?
