I'm looking for some good action RPG's to play. My favorites are the Castlevania's, and I love the 2D metroids(the 3D are horrible in my opinion).

What games are there that fit my likes that I could check out?

Try to avoid any games that would require my knowledge of Japanese because I can't stand those games.

Even thoguh it's not an RPG, 'Spider-Man: Web of Shadows' is an excellent Castlevania/Metroid style side-scroller.

Since when was Catlevania an ARPG? Or do you mean Side-Scrolling Action? Which is essentially Platformers

ARPGs: Avalon Code, FFCC: EoT, Lunar Knights, Soma Bringer, Phantasy Star 0

Castlevania doesn't have any RPG elements? You level up, collect and upgrade your equipment? I think that classifies it as Action RPG. Anyhow, I'll check out some of the games you pointed out. Thanks

A traditional ARPG has more dungeon crawling factors...... but if you say so.... but i dun really know any rpgs like castlevania cos essentially most gaming websites have it as a platformer.... so, sorry.

Ok, then in that regard, does anyone know of any 'platformers' with the leveling up aspect that makes platformers playable for more than 7 minutes?

Spider-Man Web of Shadows and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They both feature an upgrade system that, although not a truly RPG leveling system, is rather similar.

If you want Action RPGs, then you have: Custom Robo Arena, MegaMan Starforce, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Suikoden Teirkris...
If you want Action/Adventure games, you have: Zelda TPH, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, GTA Chinatown Wars, Worms Open Warfare 2, Dragon Ball Origins...

They are all in English, in case you're wondering. And use this thread next time.

Well in terms of good side scrollers that use attacking combat instead of jumping like mario... Theres Megaman ZX series and Tak series... Though they have no levelling, but they have the adventure elements like castlevania where you adventure in platformer style. And don't jump about sucking monsters and stomping mushrooms.

Off-topic:
like Joey Ravn said next time read the stickies to avoid creating multiple pointless *and flamebait* topics...

I liked Away: Shuffle Dungeon. Pretty fun game that reminds me of Soul Blazer for some reason. Music by Nobuo Uematsu also doesn't hurt.
Either FF Crystal Chronicles games are damn good too.

sorry dude. gonna have to disagree with you on Suikoden Teirkries being an action RPG. that's turn-based.

You could try Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier, although it could be classified as a turn based rpg it does implement Action in the battle sequences.
