why block datel products anyways?
they're not illegal. just not licensed. thats all

It can be hard (and not worth it) to block SOME things that mess with the game memory unexpectedly, and not others. Nintendo would have to go out of its way to ensure that AR isn't disabled while rom-loading flashcarts are. In addition, as soon as it was discovered that Nintendo was taking special pains to not block AR, the next gen of flashcarts would likely attempt to use it to bypass firmware.

What I find unusual is the fact that I see it on one website, but I don't see it on the Official Codejunkies website. Usually if it's going to be released, it would be found somewhere on there, even as a news update. But there is nothing, which is why I'm kind of suspicious. Many moons ago I once contacted Datel about the Wii Action replay device - same thing, was advertised in places like ARGOS but not shown on the Datel website

IIRC the reply was basically
QUOTE'The Wii Action replay does not contain Cheats for Wii games but for Gamecube compatible games..... It is in fact a updated Gamecube Action Replay that works on the Wii system...'
Could it be that this is something similar ?? - it's actually a DS Action replay modified to work on a DSi ??

EDITED:
Just been looking @ Datel site - doesn't the DS one look similar to the DSi ??

They aren't blocking the Action Replay DSi specifically, it's just blocked cause it probably uses the same glitch flash cards and the DSi use. So if they'd block all unlicensed cards for DSi except iPlayer and Action Replay DSi this wouldn't only mean that it's much much easier for the flash card makers to patch their cards, it's also additional work they had to do which is no use to them. Besides that: Yeah, cheating in online games is probably a reason why they don#t want it, too. And of course the Pokémon games ...

I'd rather that AR not work at all, I've had nothing but cheaters in every wifi match since it came out for the DS.
If Big N would do what other online gaming servers would do and keep these people in check, such as those mario kart cheaters, I could win a match or two for once. >_>

Datel is FAIL

i would want AR dsi, but since its so much, and may not even work B/c of forced firmware updates, its a waste of $30. Besides im broke now

Okay, I just bought one, and it works. When you run it on a DSlite, it boots just like a normal Action replay DS. But when you use it on a DSi, the system boots like normal, and detects Game & Watch Collection, meaning it's also using a copyrighted header to fool the system.

Whenever it loads, it takes some time to load the cheat list, so at first it takes about 10 seconds before you can use it again.

Now the features on it are very cool:

It has the standard cheats and settings.

It has the capabilities of backing up and restoring game saves, which means now people who have the games and roms of those games can now interchange between then without worry about save data.

It is also capable of loading homebrew.

This means that Datel has taken the initiative to pretty much take the Action Replay ME and remake it for the DSi, as well as allow for gamesave backup/restore so you can borrow games from friends without worrying about saving over there data.
