So after all the exciting news today, I just have a quick question. Are there no achievements on the 3ds? Does anybody have a source stating if there are or not? Thanks guys!

And no I'm not trying to start a debate on who wants them or not, just looking for an answer

The system will have a more robust wifi system, allowing you to share data through tag mode when the system is asleep even when the same game is not being played. The example given was that Super Street Fighter 3DS will automatically download ghost data and other records from passing 3DSs. The more games you play that support tag mode, the more data you will download from passing people.[/p]Tag Mode =/= Achievements?

Look at the wii.
After saying that they'd target "hardcore" gamers with this system, I think that a lot of things will change.

If achievements will draw in players from other systems, I think they'll add some. Maybe not at launch, but later on you can expect to see some.

If there are achievements then
a.) I'm quite sure they will be in game not in system
b.) not all games will have them?

What do I know anyways just what I think.

I think it would be great if in tag mode it would show the other players mii and their achievements.

And like someone else said, it would attract the "hardcore" gamers. I'm assuming there's still a few things we don't know about the system so far, like they must have a media player of some sort. Even the DSi had one of those. hmm

Nintendo already said that there will be no system-wide achievement system and that devs would have to implement one individually for each game.

i think that nintendo would want to at least look into this, they seem to really be listening to what players want (especially more "hardcore" ones) with this system, in a gambit to sell a lot of them,. thus, i think they might actually implement this as it would inevitably draw more people to buy it.

Whats the point of it? If you want Achievements, just grab a notepad and write down what you have done and earned. Lol.

they're exactly the same thing except with different names. They're called achievements in a ton of things including Steam, a PC gaming platform.

I can only hope he was joking. They're exactly the same, as you said.

I want achievements on 3DS, I want an own "Etalon-is-the-greatest-and-this-are-his-achievements" page!

Honestly, there's no real point in having achievements. Who really cares if some person beat the main campaign on the hardest difficulty?

Before achievements, I beat a game on the hardest difficulty, and I told my friend. He then said, "Prove it...". I was stumped, I had nothing to show for it, not even a game file since I borrowed the memory card from another friend who took it back after I beat the game. So, I kind of like achievements, I can keep my progress public on the console of my choice, without anyone needing to come over to view my save.
