Hacking Acekard2 labeled as EDGE WTH?

good deal getting a AK2.1 with nice Edge case.

Its only the labelsticker not the case.

talking about the packaging that the card came in if you look at the last pic posted by joesy has the triangle case the card came in. It looks a lot better then the bister back v2.0 came in or the cheep box for 2.1

I think he should be mad, given that stores charge more for an Edge than an Acekard.

PCB is green, that meens this card is a little old and could be an Acekard 2 (not 2.1). If you are going to get an AK2 (2.1), try to get the blue PCB or at least the black one.

The PCB is green.

The PCB is certainly not green... If you're referring to the part where the contacts are placed, then that is green. But that is not what the PCB refers to... if you look above the green there is a black strip, if you open the case this black will extend over the rest of the circuit board.

According to you this should be green pcb as well simply due to the fact that the contacts are printed on a green section. All contacts are done this way and thus it is not a viable way to differentiate. However, if you look above it there is a strip of blue just as there is a strip of black in the pictures the OP posted. It is black pcb.

A new picture with better lighting, just to prove the PCB is actually green without opening the case. Since I have been an Electronics Engineer for the better part of 15 years, I really didn't need the PCB lesson, but thanks.

Hmm... A green PCB in a old type shell (with those clips). I think you've got an old Acekard 2 (not 2.1), cause AFAIK the repaired green PCB Acekards 2 are only in the glued shell without the spring in microSD slot.

All has turned out fine anyway. The place I got it from is replacing it for me with a 2.1 when they get their shipment in and I get to keep this one until they do. Great customer relations. Thanks for the help everyone.

And the Acekard is and excellent card, especially with the latest AKAIO 1.3 (and moreso when paired with a 3-in-1). Congrats, I consider it an upgrade from the edge

My apologies as well, the pcb did seem black in the lack of lighting, but I should not have immediately assumed lack of knowledge. Sorry about that =[

this is an acekard 2.1 forest green pcb. there was a later batch of the 2.1 that was not black. i have one of them myself, as well as the black. the official firmware always says "r.p.g" on it because acekard does not make their own skins.

Maybe the smoke is coming from the marijuana you're smoking...

Lol, just kidding, but seriously I don't know what the smoke is referring to... I do agree though that this has been a rather coincidental occurrence.

Yep, my mixed up cart was from Kick Gaming, and yeah that's probably my EDGE. Lol... you can keep it though. I like the Acekard. However, I just now received 5 brand new Acekard 2.1 in the mail and all of them have the blue PCB. These ones didn't come from Kick, but a different place in Canada and I got the last 5 they had. I'm so happy and ah... blue!

When I got a hold of the guy from Kick, he told me both the Edge and Acekard carts come from the same manufacturer (I'm new to this scene so I don't know if that is correct or not, but I don't think so). He was going to get an Acekard as a replacement, but he told me on the phone that all his Acekards are mislabeled Edge carts and all of them are being sent back...

Looks like they struck again. Just got my new edge card in as well. It a mislabeled AceKard as well. Sending it back tomorrow. Got mine from Kickgaming.
