I wouldn't think so otherwise it would have been possible to use AKAIO on an R4. Plus AKAIO has lots more features than Wood so it would be kind of like downgrading.

OP: Make sure you buy a cart that's already updated to 1.4 or else it won't load up on your DSi XL. Although if you have a DS Lite you don't have to worry about it being updated to 1.4 because you can update it yourself on the DS Lite then use it on your DSi XL.

Also be warned that on the DSi XL, some people need to pull the cart slighly out of the slot after inserting the cart. Otherwise the DSi XL doesn't see it.

This doesn't mean it will happen on yours though.

No.

R4's that can run WoodR4 are not DSi (and therefor not DSi XL) compatible.
Just the same that an AceKard 2.1 will not work on a DSi even though they can both run AKAIO and official firmware.
