Hacking Acekard & Akaio questions...

Hey guys, I ordered an acekard2i from dealextreme and I have a few questions.....I heard of the 1.4 dany phantom thing but how come the official acekard company didn't make a new firmware? Is there an akaio firmware that works on 1.4 without using that danny phantom update thing? Whats the official akaio website?

AKAIO and the official firmware have nothing to do with it. Its the internal file of the card itself.

get akaio
then download the update file if u want i to work on 1.4
u need this file to make it work onn 1.4
if u dont wat it it wont work....put the file in your msdand then run it after its finished update your dsi
it will work but the icon will be danny phantom
if u dont like akaio then u can get the official firmware

Think of AKAIO as the operating system and the Acekard 1.4 fix as the BIOS update for your motherboard.

The Acekard team made the update. It's a fact. How do we know? Because in their replies to emails about it, they link to it on this site. And you could've gotten AKAIO's official site right from the Acekard's official site... AKAIO Forum.

The "DannyPhantom" update was made by AceKard Team and released outside their site because it uses clearly illegally altered copyrighted material (a.k.a. DannyPhantom game ROM Header). M3 and EZFlash released updates that works in similar manner, they use headers of commercial games to trick the 1.4 DSi firmware/system menu. M3 uses Star Wars game ROM header, EzFlash one is Tak.

Yes, you were essentially flaming him. And yes it does matter who made the update. I wouldn't use an update unless it came from either the team that makes the Acekard or AKAIO. Why? Because I wouldn't trust anything else. And besides, "as long as it works right"? No. Even if it works, you don't know what is in it. A 3rd-party update could easily brick the acekard on any given date. And you said there isn't an official site, yet there is. That sounds like not helping to me.

No. Does every newbie who just came here know that GBATemp tries not to host stuff that can potentially brick something? Probably not. Most people don't know, and don't want to know a thing about the forums and sites that they are going to sign with, they just are going to sign in and leech what they see to be useful for them, it can be downloads, fun or informations that they don't bother to search or think through by themselves.
