I have another tip about how to know which NAND is online. As many know that date/time is always visible on the upper corner of the 3DS. So change the sysNAND'date/time to something that is 100% incorrect or different than the emuNAND before starting the whole update process. If the date/time is "wrong", than one will know that the sysNAND is being used right now.

hundshamer does the usb mod and is US based, i do it too but only really for Uk ....not sure what postage will be like to the US for you but drop him a pm and see
(ps there is a cost but its not that much :P)

hundshamer did mine and does WONDERFUL work

She pays shipping back in the mod costs and it only cost $6 to ship priority mail usps

This is clever! When I created my first emuNAND last year though, I just put a folder in both sys and emuNAND named "sysNAND" and "emuNAND," respectively. Whichever one I'm booted to will show a folder with either a big S on it or a big E on it, so I always know which one I'm on.

I personally have the game card slot the first one on emuNAND, and System Settings there on sysNAND.
