Why can I not catch you?
It is driving me nuts

Could someone give me a hint as to how I'm supposed to catch an Abra on route 215?
Your help is greatly appreciated

uh, with a pokéball?

Nah, to prevent it from using teleport, use attacks like mean look or taunt on it
(especially the last one is effective)
don't ask me where to find them though
also I saw somewhere fast balls are effective too

Why post topic twice???.. Thats asking for a ban..

Maybe because it's not my fault? Maybe you haven't noticed, but the website is really wonky. I was posting the topic, and in the process the website Timed Out, and when I reloaded the page in my browser it had posted two topics. Before threatening with bans, maybe you should listen to my side of the story?

Tj_cool : Lol, yeah I figured that much. I thought it was weird though, I did actually get a Mean Look off, but he did some attack on his turn, then the turn after he teleported away again. It's super frustrating!

Well, yes, the site is acting a bit weird the last weeks, but when accidental double posting happens due to a server-side issue, the interval between both topics is usually a matter of seconds. On the other hand, your second topic was posted 29 minutes after your first one, so excuse us if we think you did it on purpose...

Yeah, that's cuz i was sitting here browsing other sites/watching TV, and it didn't load on the first refresh. It actually took half an hour for GBAtemp to come back up for me. The other topic was closed regardless.
Anyway, Abra..what a little punk

EDIT: I'm really digging the "hateit" emoticon if you haven't noticed =p

OK, so Abra... This is what I'd do if I had no other options:
1. Buy 1 Pokéball (or the best you can get ATM).
2. Save your game.
3. Find and battle a wild Abra.
4. Throw a Pokéball at him.
5. If caught, you're done. If not caught, reset your game and repeat from step 3.

If you have access to a status-inducing move, use it. Sleeping and paralysing the Abra will prevent it from fleeing. If you're still unable to catch it... trade it from the GTS

you may hate me , for this
but
in my 1st battle with Abra(seen for the 1st time on Route 203)
I caught it
NO SLEEP or paralyzing move used

I Throw a Pokéball (NORMAL ONE)
caught it

Im playing pokemon platinum

Yes, Abra has a rather low catch rate (200) to compensate its constant fleeing. 200 may seem high, but the higher, the easier it is to catch it. MewTwo, Lugia or Groudon, for example, have a CR of only 3...

In Platinum you just need to catch a Machop and trade it to a girl in Oreburgh for an Abra, but heck Abra is really hard to train, took me ages before making it evolve to a Kadabra.

Catching Abra (try some of these).

1. Have a pokemon in your 1st slot that is twice the level (or there of) of the abra your catching, it helps with the success rate of the pokeball.

2. Use the most powerful pokeball at your disposal (although a masterball seems a bit excessive) to catch the pokemon (fast ball, master ball, dusk ball)
I caught my 1st abra in Platinum with a premium ball and a lvl 10 Chimchar

3. Have a Wobbefet or a Wynaut as the main member of your team, it's ability (shadow tag) prevents pokemen from escaping. So does Arena Trap which is found on Trapinch and the diglett family.

4. If you haven't got a pokemon with shadow tag then us a pokemon with a move that has a trapping effect: sleep , taunt, confuse, etc.

5. Trade, action replay or Pokesav.

I hope this helps.
