Hacking About modchip

Hello guys.
I have one question, why all modchips here is Trinket M0, ItsyBitsy M0, Gemma M0, and other adafruits dev boards?
You just need deliver the payload, so why you all using adafruit things? Other arduino dev boards can't deliver payload by rx/tx?

I remember there being a factor about the chip having to support usb host too, but yeah size matters.
