I haven't looked at it, but as long as the fans blow air into base of the laptop, it will help. However experience has shown that as long as the laptop is kept on an airy and non insulative surface (I.e not your lap or a cluttered desk), laptops can generally run fine on their internal fans. Cooling pads just help circulate air and keep it elevated above insulative surfaces.
Believe it or not, me brother uses a piece of cardboard, exactly the same size as his laptop when he keeps it on his lap.
