Hey guys,

A few days ago, I unlinked my Nintendo account from my Switch so my Nintendo account would not be banned. I had a ton of money in purchases and I did not want to loose them. After unlinking my account, when I launched any of my games, it said that I needed my Nintendo account to be linked to my switch in order to play. To play my games, I used the SX OS NSP installer and reinstalled all of my purchased games. Anyways, I was playing Mario Odyssey and I noticed a couple of bugs in the game that were never their before. To fix this, I used the "Check for Corrupt Data" feature that Nintendo added. It immediately found broken data and started downloading a fresh copy of SMO. I was quite confused at first because I had no Nintendo account linked to my Switch so I did not know how Nintendo knew that I legitimately purchased the game. After the fresh copy installed, I still needed SX OS to run the game (the game did not run in Horizon OS). I am very confused and can someone please tell me what is going on?

Thanks.

eShop related content can be downloaded without a Nintendo Account. This is how CDN tools operate. At the very minimum, it requires your console's unique certificate. I guess in this case, it downloaded Super Mario Odyssey for despite lacking a linked Nintendo Account.
