Hacking a question regarding hacking Wii U

Hello I just buy a used Wii U console and I want to hack it.

I read on the internet this on the hack guide


The second method is to purchase a very cheap exploitable DS Virtual Console game to launch your Custom Firmware automatically at boot.

The DS Virtual Console game must be a legitimately purchased copy of the game installed to the internal memory of your device. You cannot install this DS Virtual Console game to a USB drive.


My question is can I still buy a game according to this guide or it’s impossible this dayes?

also can I run all the Wii U games from external drive?

Yes you can still buy ds games on the wiiu eshop.
And yes you can run all your games from an external drive

Yes, the WiiU eShop is still open and you can still buy one of the compatible games required for the Haxchi install, as the guide says, install the DS game to your internal memory.

After you have setup Haxchi, then from here on you can pretty much install ALL games to an external USB Hard Drive.

For me personally, I prefer the Haxchi install over the Coldboot Haxchi (CBHC), with Haxchi, you have to manually boot into CFW (Custom Firmware) when you need to install/play a game that has it's ticket fake signed.
Whereas CBHC, if you have set it up correctly, CFW is automatically loaded every time you turn on your WiiU, I like to have my WiiU close to stock/factory as possible, and only boot into CFW when I want/need to.

There were some instances where an firmware update breaks CBHC, but a simple reinstall gets you back up and running again, whereas normal Haxchi install, updating the firmware didn't affect it.

Comes down to personal choice, either way, the WiiU is pretty simple to hack.

how you activate the hack if you are going you say what is the method.
I also want to run Wii games do I need to do more stuff or it’s all included?

The Haxchi hack requires you to purchase DS Virtual Console game from the WiiU's eShop.

If you want to run Wii games, there are two options, either inject your own Wii games and launch them straight from the WiiU menu or you need to SOFT MOD your vWii so you can use an USB Loader homebrew app like USB Loader GX to play Wii backups, either in ISO or WBFS file from an external USB Hard drive. But be aware you will need a separate external USB Hard Drive to store your Wii ISO/WBFS files, you can't use the same external USB Hard Drive that your WiiU is using if the console has formatted the drive, this drive is only used to install WiiU games.
