I want to ask, is it safe for me to download Mario Kart 8 update data to USB, and then move it to NAND?

I am quite conflicted about it, as I heard installing things to the NAND could be considered risky/dangerous. Speaking of what I have on the NAND, it is a pre-installed copy of Mario Kart 8, European (PAL) region.
I am leaning forward to hearing a reply about that.

(ps. While installing the update data to USB, I was asked by NUSspli if I want to change the directory to the NAND)

Just let it update normally. The update needs to be installed where the game is. If you try to move it later, it would replace the game itself, including save and dlc.

Just launch the game while Pretendo is disabled and it will update automatically correctly

How can I disable pretendo for a second? Is there any button combination? I have installed it through Aroma Updater

You can disable it in the plugin settings menu

What about installing DLCs though?

Thanks. It worked.

Now, can I switch to Nintendo servers from Pretendo to update games I downloaded with Nusspli onto my HDD?
Just download the updates from NUSspli too? Also, you can stay on Pretendo the entire time
