it asked if I wanted to check for an update I accepted it now says "UPDATING DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR CONSOLE" same as usual the progress bar stayed at 1% then it began to move until it reached 100%

So it didn't automatically update. You could have chosen to not update. That's how it has always been. It's not like you turn on your Wii and it automatically starts updating without you being able to do something to prevent it. So it's NOT an automatic update. It's not. It's not....No...It isn't.

They can't mass email every Wii on the planet at the same time.

In fact, they can. There's actually nothing easier for them, as they control the mail servers every Wii is contacting regularly (when WiiConnect24 is on). I always get Nintendo's update news on the day it's released.
Well, they can but I mean not everyone can get the message at the same time.

Actually, I don't think they "send" anything. Instead, the mail is pushed, which is more viable in an environment where the mail server isn't aware of the end user.

If it's true...

*OPENS BRAWL, GOES ONLINE, PLAYS WHOLE DAY*
Ps. I found that original Brawl do not have problems with finding people online

Well why don't you test your connection and accept the check for update warning
Okay then. *plugs second broken wii*
Let's try.

EDIT: My pointner is on yes button - check if it'll update? ... Do I have to check?

I already updated few hours ago, I think I got the update if there was a new one available. (except if it's available since then)
(3.2 to 3.3, so I don't know if there's a 3.3_v1 to 3.3_v2)

Even when there is no update, it will go all the way to 100%... how about you try it agian... delete all your connections, and set them back up.

You want me to make a video to prove it to you?

So why is everyone afraid of an update.. I do not have a wii or know anything about it.. Is it something to do with Nintendo being able to tell that you have a wiichip or something?? I dont know... Im confused and everyone is panicking..

Bushing is one of the guy's who created alot of the homebrew stuff... recently he announced an exploit that could run DVD's without a modchip (softmodding the wii). He's being very tight lipped about it, and will not release the code.

People are afraid of a new update becuase of this, thinking Nintendo is going to block all homebrew, and piracy.

There is no new update, it's still at 3.3(U, E, and J)

Please, someone close this topic!!!

It can stop homebrew.
Close the topic, 'cause it's a "NOOOOO" for everyone that enters hacking wii section.

I got info from someone that 3.4 will block HBC from running, and will also stop you from playing Zelda TP forever! You can't run Zelda! This is horriable! Everyone, quickly! Pull the plug on your Wii... it's an auto update! They won't ask your permission! It'll update, even if your Wii is off!!!!

HURRY!!!

--------

See, I can cause a huge panic too...

for the last time...

THERE IS NO UPDATE!! WE ARE AT 3.3 STILL!!
