I thought it was illegal to force an update, and was under the impression you could allways opt out. Is it really necessary to disconnect the Wii from wifi to avoid an update?

I agree with you a bit there...this is the last wii game I played online and I got the hang of it and it even was quite fun....still, no biggie compared to a bricked Wii

Like it was with 3.2 - first without WiiWare, next with WiiWare

Waaait...I have two wiis, I cound update one, but it do not have the laser, so it would be useless...maybe only homebrew test...

I updated yesterday from 3.2 to 3.3, so I don't know if there is anything new.

Anyway, I noticed brickblocked games using WUM are not working, when other people said it is.
Maybe that's what changed. Can someone test that ?

It is illegal but I wasn't forced its just when you test the connection it asks if you want to check for an update I accepted (only because its a faster way to get back to the wii menu)

WiiSpeak and Motion+ are far away and besides. I'd like it to be a patch, it could be the vital evidence in solving the case of the wii softmod. If you catch my drift.

Not sure what happened I just went to test my internet connection and it updated so umm I don't got a chip so don't ask me but feel free to test.

Even if you're fully up to date, whenever you set up a new Wifi set up it will always ask you to update, even if there's nothing to update. There's nothing to freak out about, there's no update.

If this was an actual update, Nintendo would send an email to all Wiis today. If there's no email, there's no update.

Actually...wait...no the blue bar goes through the screen (updating from 2.0 to 3.2 wasn't fun, believe me) and ...reboots the wii I think....

Even if you say yes to the update that doesn't exist, you will still see the blue bar and it will still say update complete, when there's no update. If anything you're probably redownloading the update you already have.

Thanks for the answer. The cause for my question was the few people who had mentioned disconnecting to avoid updates, not doubt in your original post, BTW.

For me it stays very small and after a second says ("There is no wii update because you have the newest firmware")
Or something like that.

They can't mass email every Wii on the planet at the same time.

I've gotten messages for things days after they've been out.

In fact, they can. There's actually nothing easier for them, as they control the mail servers every Wii is contacting regularly (when WiiConnect24 is on). I always get Nintendo's update news on the day it's released.

IT FREAKING UPDATED OKAY sorry I left this out *clears throught* My Internet connection stopped working for some odd reason as always so I went to go test the connection it was successful it asked if I wanted to check for an update I accepted it now says "UPDATING DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR CONSOLE" same as usual the progress bar stayed at 1% then it began to move until it reached 100% then it something about parental controls and rebooted I went to gbatemp and told you guys what I know.

OK, if it told you about parental controls, it really updated. It only tells you this after a successful update.
Still, we don't know anything about the update, so we might have to wait until Nintendo announces it.
