I'm new to softmodding for the ps2. I not sure if this is even possible but any advice would help.
Here's what I have
- A slimline PS2
-Console #SCPH-70012
-Browser 1.40
-Playstation Driver 1.11
-DVD Player 3.10U
-GameShark 2 Version 1.3
-USB support
-Broadband Enabled
-A few PS1 Games

Here's what I've done
I used Title Frontend to create Title.db using several tutorials.
I used PS2 save builder to create a save file named EXPLOIT.md
Renamed it to Your SystemConfiguration.ps2
Ran Gameshark and copied it to the MC
Ran my PS1 boot and the game loads up.

I've looked around and googled and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or if I'm wasting my time.
Thank you.

The Independence Exploit is not functional on Slim PS2's as Sony patched the vulnerability. However with what you have i'd advise that instead you set up Free McBoot. Take a look here.

playallday you misunderstand....the setup is correct and i'd imagine if the MC and PSX disc were used on a fat PS2 it would work. However, no matter what you do, the Independence Exploit will not function on a Slim, whether it's set up on the fat console or not. Free McBoot has no such limitation though.

I was under the impression that I was using the FreeMcBoot. I used that BOOT.ELF and I still get nothing. Should I rename it before I put into my save file?

BOOT.ELF is an essential component so no. Take a look at those guides i linked to earlier and see if that helps remedy the issue.

Sorry, you misunderstand

!

What I mean is to do the Independence Exploit on a fat PS2 to get Free McBoot running!

Thanks guys but all I keep getting is the game loading up. I followed the guide and did it few times but nothing. I did 3 different ps1 games and 2 different memory cards and still nothing.

The reason that you can't get the PSX disc to launch the exploit is because that's what has been patched in the Slim PS2 (you're trying to set up the Independence Exploit which is a no go for you). That's why you keep getting the PSX disc booting because no matter what you do that's what will happen. Instead you need some form of cheat device or swap magic to access the USB ports.

If you can already access a USB device, put Ulaunch on it and the FMCB files, and use the former to launch the latter.
