Homebrew A bit of help with dpgenc

Some files work fine, but sometimes when i try to convert a video, it always stops at the exact frame while converting, and the whole program freezes and i have to end the process. I've tried reconverting the video to .mpg, then putting it into dpgenc, and all it does it just freeze at some other place place. But some other videos work fine.

Don't tell me to use BatchDPG. it's outdated. I've tried changing the settings a bit, and same result. I'm using the dpgenc that came with moonshell 2.05

It's like the luck of the draw if a video can be converted or not.

Also the only codecs i've downloaded is CCCP

dpgenc will only convert .avi files and .mp4 as far as i know. You need to convert your .mpg to .avi. you can use www.zamzar.com to convert them.

^nope, dpgenc converts .mpg as well.

it does? i once tried a .mpg and it said it couldn't convert it. If 2.08 doesn't work, try 2.11 beta. That's the only one i've come across that works.

AFAIK dpgenc ver.2.00 can converts all basic video formats like .mpeg, .mpg, .avi .mp4 & .flv
but it's not a perfect converter, I agree with the TS line

but for me its the best dpg converter out there.

The biggest problem I get is that there are different codecs that all result in .avi files. Some .avi s can convert, some can't.

i've been converting heaps of .mpgs. I usually convert my videos from .mkv, to mpg then to dpg. So it's not the format. I've tried converting directly from .flv too, still works, however it still hangs. I will try downloading and using 2.08's dpgenc. I've got SUPER, which is a universal super converter, but it hangs whenever i even try to convert to .dpg, and it doesnt convert to dpg4, so it has slow seeking and doesnt have a thumbnail preview.

That's because AVI in itself is just a container format, and can contain any number of video types within in. It all depends on the codecs used and whether your system can decode them. I know that BatchDPG relies on your computer's installed codec to convert, but I don't know if DPG Tools works the same way.
