Well I just proudly ordered a SKY3DS from 3DS-Flashcard.com. I had a nice long and meaningful chat with their very helpful customer service person.

You have a post count of 1. I wonder which flashcard team made this account.

I have two questions and I didnt want to open a new thread. I would love if they are answered:

1. does anyone know a game cartridge for the 3ds that allows me to update to anything between 9.0-9.2? (I have a 3ds on firmware 6.2)

2. Does emunand for gateway work on 9.4?

thanks!

1) no game carts to update to 9.0-9.2. Got 8.1 retail carts.

2) not working on emunand 9.4

Well I just proudly ordered a SKY3DS from 3DS-Flashcard.com. I had a nice long and meaningful chat with their very helpful customer service person. I specifically requested the BLUE Button edition of the card. You know, the one with the "unlimited" capability. He informed me that they would be shipping Monday of next week and that I should hopefully have the card in hand by the end of next week.

When that happens, I will be updating my impressions and making a mini-synopsis of the card right here at good ole GBATEMP.

I have no qualms whatsoever about picking this over Gateway.

Why?

Because in truth, I hold no allegiance to either company. Neither do I own any stock investments with either company.
All of this fanboyism is both futile and infantile. Both cart companys are in business to make MONEY. Period.
And as much as I would like to think that they love me as a person, I know this not to be true. Profit is king.

Anyway, when the card arrives, I will answer any questions as time allows.
As for 'Nintendo being the enemy'. NO. just plain no on that.

Nintendo is our friend.

Because without them, there would be nothing to 'flash' to a card in the first place. Piracy cant be the first motive when making a purchase like this.
I personally feel no guilt, because I have purchased every single major and most minor titles on the entire e-shop. My Sky3DS is purely 'Try before BUY' only at this juncture.
I owe Nintendo and the hard-working game developers my honesty and my hard earned cash when it's a game that I know I will be playing consistently on my 3DS.

lol. this made for a good laugh

NO Puppy.
My TRUE account, which I desperately need one of the Moderators of Gbatemp to recover for me, is even older than yours. My login ID was no longer working for some reason and I had to painstakingly create a new account.
BTW, Mods can you please look into MULTIBOY2k account on your servers and recover my login information? Thanks.
Puppy, you can simply Google my name and you will see that I have been posting here since 2002 or so.

Thanks!

1- Sorry, you'll have to wait for a retail cartridge. I expect a recall to suppliers and none to be for sale, thats if any games have been shipped yet with it to suppliers for upcoming release. There are NONE in the wild yet, i say there won't be.

2- No and you don't need it yet, it if for future games signed with keys over 9.2.

In hindsight you should have gone to 9.2 when gateway mentioned 9.2 support since you were outside the >4.5 spec. Your option is sky, or the upcoming gateway support. They are porting the 9.2 exploit they are have been holding back, to the lower firmwares between 4.5-9.2 that can be found on retail cartridges.

placebooooo even if they only release support for 8.1-9.2, you can still get a copy of Smash Bros or any other with 8.1 update and go to that version like that

Any reason? Or are you just being rude or condescending due to your being behind a screen and keyboard? We all have opinions, no need to shit on or belittle others. If you wouldn't appreciate it, don't do it, think it instead, hey...........

I have a 3ds on 4.5 and my little bros is on 6.2. I don't know if I should get him a sky3ds, because from it seemed, gateway are only going to support 9.0-9.2, nothing lower perhaps? Unless I was misreading their announcements.

Anyway, what do you personally recommend anything?

Exactly. Gateway have shown integrity of a sort in that they will come to the party and support their product well. If i was on a low but above 4.5, i would wait and see. They will support you, just a waiting game, but it's coming.

They did say they would work on a way to support firmware below 9.0 (which is most likely to be at least 8.1). If they'll actually be able to do it or not, only time will tell

You can go to the ready to play choice, Sky3DS, or you can choose the long term "possible" best option, Gateway

They are definitely supporting lower firmware, each will have minor patches needed so it will take time. Don't doubt if they had it stable they would release it. It won't be to far of. As the above poster said, they will probably go for a standard that was on many titles like 8.1 but who knows. In that example you would need a retail game cartridge with 8.1 to update and then gateway will work.

In your case if you own no cards, maybe one of each (saves 2 gateways and a retail game) . The sky can be used instead of a retail to update to 8.1 or whatever variant they release and for all your backups. The gateway then can be used on both if you want to play with homebrew or exotic out of region roms.

Personally i'd go 2 gateways and a retail, but i play around with my own code. If i didn't a sky would be good. Sky is just really a backup device, and it does it well. There is something to be said for the sky for the end user regardless of the negative feedback they have earned themselves. If you getting a sky get a few cheap lower sized memory cards as the scrolling will become a annoyance eventually.

Multiple ad cards? Scrolling? What do you mean by scrolling exactly?
