I've just brought a 2nd hand modded psp and this is my first so don't know mutch about them, i wanted one for when i travel as my old ds has given up the ghost. Right ive installed various iso games and they play no problem but i tried to play a few games in EBOOT.PBP for in the psp/games folder but all i get is the game could not be started 80010087. The psp is a silver final fantasy VII one with system software 5.50 Prometheus, think its the 3000 one. Can anyone help me with this as its all new to me, give me a 360 to mod easy lol but these are new to me.

I found the recovery and changed the udm mode to everyone on offer but the games still won't boot. The iso ones do but not the eboot games.

By eboot.pbp i'm assuming PSX games?

eboot.pbp's go in their own folder within PSP/GAME.

    So for FFVII it'd be -> X:PSP/GAME/FFVII/EBOOT.PBP

It doesn't matter. The file hierarchy is

    X:ISO/pspgame.iso

    or

    X:PSP/GAME/FOLDER/Eboot.pbp

Check your eboots are located correctly.

    Yep there located correctly,

I have the iso files in root/iso/pspgame.iso

    and

    I have the Eboot.pbp files in root/psp/game/folder/eboot.pbp

I have the psx games that are eboot and they play fine.

So no one has any idea why i get the 80010087 - Error reading UMD or UMD not present error even though it plays iso and psx in eboot but not games or demos in eboot.

Because you're running an outdated firmware, or using the wrong ISO Driver. Update to 6,20 or 6.60 PRO and try the alternative drivers.

I would suggest to try another ISO first then try updating. I have seen people having problem with this.

I tried to update to 6.20 but it says mysystem software of your psp system is version 9.90. There is no need to update.

In system tab it says system software 5.50 Prometheus.

What does this mean and whats next to try.

Just follow Rydian guide here . Follow the "If you are currently on an older CUSTOM/HACKED firmware..." part first then chose 6.20 or 6.60 & follow the guide .
