# MLB The Show 26 (Switch, Ryujinx) - Equipment Mod Kit

This kit lets you give your Road to the Show player branded equipment looks
(Louisville Slugger bats, Nike cleats, Wilson gloves, Oakley shades, EvoShield
catcher gear, and so on) while playing **offline** in the Ryujinx emulator.
It also adds a perk boost to every equipment slot and includes an optional
save editor for your Road to the Show token count.

Everything here works on your own copy of the game, on your own PC. Nothing is
sent online, and your original game files are never changed.

---

## Contents

| File | What it is |
|---|---|
| `Start Equipment Swapper.bat` | Double-click to open the Equipment Swapper app |
| `Start Token Editor.bat` | Double-click to change your Road to the Show tokens |
| `equipment_swapper/equipment_swapper.pyw` | The Equipment Swapper app |
| `equipment_swapper/example_selection.json` | 14 swaps that were tested and confirmed in-game (optional) |
| `tools/mlb_save_edit.py` | Save editor (Road to the Show tokens, other fields) |
| `tools/re/` | Reverse-engineering helpers (advanced, not needed for normal use) |
| `GUIDE.md` | This guide |

No game files are included. The app reads the data it needs from **your own**
copy of the game the first time you run it (step 3).

---

## What it can and cannot do

**Can do**

- Replace the look of each *default* equipment style with any branded model
that exists in the game files. This covers bats, bat grip tape, batting
gloves, fielding gloves, cleats, eyewear, elbow guards, batter shin guards,
compression sleeves, sliding mitts, catcher masks, chest protectors and
catcher leg guards.
- Give every equipment slot a perk boost (6% by default, the same as Diamond
equipment) even though you own no equipment cards.
- Set your Road to the Show tokens to any number (save editor).

**Cannot do**

- Add real equipment *cards* to your inventory. Those come from the online
servers (packs, Show Shop, Marketplace) and are not in the game files.
- Rename the options in the menu. A swapped option keeps its old label such as
"Style 1" or "Traditional", but your player wears the new model.
- Swaps are global. They change the default looks, so every career and every
player that uses that default style shows the new model.

---

## Requirements

1. **Ryujinx** (tested on Ryujinx 1.3.3) with your own dump of
**MLB The Show 26** and its update installed. Ryujinx needs your own
`prod.keys` to run the game, so if the game already runs, you are set.
2. **Game version 1.0.1** (title ID `0100AA7024094000`, build ID
`BFAFD5923550BB52`). The Equipment Swapper reads the game's own data, so it
will probably work on other versions too, but only 1.0.1 was tested. The
save editor and the token cheat are tied to 1.0.1.
- Check the version in Ryujinx's game list (the number under the title), or
in Ryujinx's log: `Application Loaded: MLB® The Show™ 26 v1.0.1`.
3. **Python 3.10 or newer** for Windows, with tkinter (included in the normal
installer).
4. About **35 GB of free disk space** for the one-time game data extraction
(step 2). You can delete the extracted files after step 3.

---

## Step 1 - Install Python

1. Download Python from https://www.python.org/downloads/ (the normal
"Windows installer (64-bit)").
2. Run the installer. On the first screen, tick **"Add python.exe to PATH"**,
then click **Install Now**.
3. To check it worked, open a Command Prompt and run:

```
python --version
```

It should print `Python 3.x.x`.

No extra Python packages are needed for the Equipment Swapper or the save
editor.

---

## Step 2 - Extract the game's RomFS (one time)

The app needs two data files from the game. Ryujinx can extract them from your
copy:

1. Open Ryujinx (do not start the game).
2. Right-click **MLB The Show 26** > **Extract Data** > **RomFS**.
3. Pick an empty folder, for example `D:\mlb26_romfs`.
4. Wait until the "Extracting" window closes. This takes a few minutes and
writes about 33 GB.

When it is done, the folder contains `FRONTEND`, `NSW`, `AND` and other
folders.

---

## Step 3 - First run of the Equipment Swapper

1. Double-click **`Start Equipment Swapper.bat`**.
2. **Ryujinx folder.** If you use a normal Ryujinx install, the app finds
`%APPDATA%\Ryujinx` by itself and skips this question. If you use a
**portable** Ryujinx, the app asks for its data folder: pick the
`portable` folder next to `Ryujinx.exe` (the folder that contains `bis`).
3. **RomFS folder.** The app asks for the folder from step 2. Pick the top
folder (the one containing `FRONTEND`).
4. The app copies the two files it needs into `equipment_swapper\data\` and
opens its main window.

After this, you can delete the RomFS folder from step 2 if you want the disk
space back. The app does not need it again.

The app saves your settings in `equipment_swapper\config.json` (Ryujinx
folder) and `equipment_swapper\selection.json` (your picks).

**Optional: start with the tested swaps.** Before opening the app, copy
`example_selection.json` to `selection.json` in the same folder. The app then
opens with 14 swaps (one per equipment type) that were confirmed in-game.

---

## Step 4 - Pick your equipment

1. **Close the game first** if it is running (Ryujinx: Actions > Stop
Emulation). Mods are only loaded when the game starts.
2. In the app, choose a **Slot** (Bats, Cleats, Fielding Gloves, ...).
3. Each default style of that slot has its own dropdown, for example
"Style 1 (default 'Gen1')". Choose a branded model, or "(original look)".
The **Search** box filters the lists (try "Nike", "A2000", "Oakley").
4. Repeat for any other slots.
5. Click **Apply to game**. The status line confirms how many swaps were
written.
6. Start the game.

The app writes a Ryujinx mod called **UnlockEquipment** to
`<Ryujinx folder>\mods\contents\0100AA7024094000\UnlockEquipment\`. Make sure
it is ticked in Ryujinx: right-click the game > **Manage Mods**.

---

## Step 5 - See it in the game

Go to **Road to the Show > Ballplayer > Appearance > Equipment Style**.
Each swap shows on the option listed below. Some items are switched off by
default for your player, so turn them on to see them.

| Swapped slot | Where to look | Option that changes |
|---|---|---|
| Bats | Bat | Style 1 |
| Bat Grip / Tape | Bat > Tape Style (turn on) > Grip | Style 1 |
| Batting Gloves | Batting Gloves (set to One/Both) > Batting Glove | Style 1, 2 or 3 (whichever you swapped) |
| Fielding Gloves | Glove | Style 1 |
| Cleats | Cleats | Style 1, 2 or 3 |
| Eyewear | Eyewear (Use Eyewear on) > Eyewear | Style 1 to 11 |
| Elbow Guards | Batting Gear > Elbow Guard | The option after "None" (labelled "Large") and the others you swapped |
| Shin Guards | Batting Gear > Leg Guard Type (turn on) > Leg Guard | Style 1 |
| Sliding Mitts | Batting Gear > Baserunner Protective Gear | "Generic Wrist Guard" |
| Sleeves | Sleeves & Tape > Compression Sleeves (turn on) | Style 1 |
| Catcher Masks | Catcher Gear > Catcher Mask | "Traditional" / "Hockey" |
| Chest Protectors | Catcher Gear > Chest Protector | Style 1 |
| Leg Guards (catcher) | Catcher Gear | Style 1 |
| Wrist Guards | No menu for this was found, so it is untested | - |

To change a swap later: close the game, change it in the app, click **Apply to
game**, start the game again.

**Perk boost.** The "Perk boost from empty slots (%)" box sets the boost every
equipment slot gives. With 6, the Equipment screen in Road to the Show shows
"6% Boosts to ALL: HITTING Perks" (and so on) with nothing owned. Values above
6 were not tested.

---

## Optional - Infinite tokens cheat (Ryujinx cheat file)

A community cheat for version 1.0.1 includes **Infinite Tokens in RTTS**, plus
always-home-run and strikeout/walk buttons. It is not included in this kit
because it is somebody else's work and is posted for forum members only.

1. Get `BFAFD5923550BB52.txt` from the GBAtemp thread by nolberto82
(free account and joining the "Nintendo SWITCH Cheat Codes Download" group
required):
https://gbatemp.net/threads/mlb-r-t...0100aa7024094000-bid-bfafd5923550bb52.680339/
2. Put it in
`<Ryujinx folder>\mods\contents\0100AA7024094000\cheats\BFAFD5923550BB52.txt`
(create the `cheats` folder if it does not exist).
3. In Ryujinx, right-click the game > **Manage Cheats**, tick the cheats you
want, click **Save**, and restart the game.

The token cheat sets your tokens to 9999 when you buy an upgrade.

---

## Optional - Save editor (tokens and other values)

`tools/mlb_save_edit.py` edits Road to the Show career saves directly. It finds
the MLB save by itself (normal and portable Ryujinx, using the folder you set
in the Equipment Swapper), and it **backs up the whole save folder** to
`tools\save_backups\<date-time>\` before every change.

**Close the game before you write anything.** The game keeps your career in
memory and overwrites the save file when it saves.

**Easy way:** double-click **`Start Token Editor.bat`**. It lists your careers,
asks which one, shows the current tokens, and asks for the new amount. It waits
if the game is still running, and backs up the save before writing.

**Command line (more options):** open a Command Prompt in the `tools` folder (in File Explorer, type `cmd` in
the address bar and press Enter), then:

1. List your careers:

```
python mlb_save_edit.py list
```

Example output: `CARR00000000BA2DCBC7 - First Last, Smokies SP/3B May 13, 2026`

2. Show the training/token data of a career (any unique part of the folder
name works, for example `BA2D`):

```
python mlb_save_edit.py show BA2D
```

`SHOW_TOKENS` is your token count.

3. Set the tokens (maximum 65535):

```
python mlb_save_edit.py set BA2D D_CR_TRNG_DATA SHOW_TOKENS 9999
```

4. Start the game and load that career.

To undo a change, close the game and copy the folder from
`tools\save_backups\<date-time>\` back over the save folder (the editor prints
both paths).

Other commands:

- `python mlb_save_edit.py show <career> <TABLE>` prints any table, for
example `D_PERK_DATA`.
- `gear` and `setgear` read and write the player's equipment record
(`D_PLAYER_ACC`). The values are style numbers. The game keeps them, but in
testing it did not draw them, so use the Equipment Swapper for looks.

---

## Turning it off / uninstalling

- **Equipment swaps and perk boost:** untick **UnlockEquipment** in Ryujinx
(right-click the game > Manage Mods), or click **Reset all** in the app, or
delete
`<Ryujinx folder>\mods\contents\0100AA7024094000\UnlockEquipment\`.
- **Cheats:** untick them in Manage Cheats, or delete the `cheats` folder.
- **Save edits:** restore a backup from `tools\save_backups\`.

Nothing else on your PC is changed.

---

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Changes don't show | Restart the game after **Apply to game**. Mods only load when the game starts. Check the mod is ticked in Manage Mods. |
| A swap doesn't show | Look at the option listed in the step 5 table. Some items are off for your player until you turn them on. Make sure you look at the style you swapped (Style 1 vs 2/3). |
| Item looks broken or invisible | Pick a different model for that slot. A few items in the game data are unfinished. Reset that slot to "(original look)" to go back. |
| "Python is not installed" | Reinstall Python and tick "Add python.exe to PATH" (step 1). |
| App asks for the RomFS folder again | `equipment_swapper\data\` is missing or incomplete. Pick the RomFS folder again (step 2 if you deleted it). |
| Wrong Ryujinx folder | Click **Ryujinx folder...** in the app and pick the folder containing `bis`, then **Apply to game** again. |
| Save editor: "save not found" | Set the path by hand before running: `set MLB_SAVE_ROOT=C:\path\to\Ryujinx\bis\user\save\000000000000000X` (the folder holding the `0` and `1` slot folders). |
| Save editor: "player record not found" | `setgear`/`gear` look up the player by the name in the career title. Use `show`/`set` instead for tokens. |
| Game won't load a career after a save edit | Close the game and restore the backup from `tools\save_backups\`. |

---

## How it works (technical notes)

These notes are for anyone who wants to extend the kit.

**Equipment data.** `FRONTEND\EQUIPMENT\MLBEQUIPMENT.JSON` (in the RomFS)
lists 713 equipment models in `eqlist`. Each has `id`, `type`, `style`,
`brand`, `tier`, `enb`, `enb_mobile`, `modelname` and `gfxinfo`. The game
loads them into a table of 64-byte entries:

| Offset | Field |
|---|---|
| `+0x00` | type (u32) |
| `+0x04` | sort (u16) |
| `+0x06` | style (u16) |
| `+0x08` | brand |
| `+0x0C` | tier |
| `+0x10` | disabled (`enb != 1`) |
| `+0x11` | `enb_mobile` |
| `+0x30` | model name pointer |
| `+0x38` | gfxinfo pointer |

The game finds an item by **(type, style)**, not by `id` (functions at
`main+0x1747770` and `main+0x17477E0` in 1.0.1). Style 0 is the generic default
of each type. Offline, the Equipment Style menu only offers the default styles
(brand 0). The swapper keeps the default's `type`/`style` and copies the
branded item's `name`, `brand`, `tier`, `modelname` and `gfxinfo`.
`modelname`/`gfxinfo` values like `dg=bat, bclr=$_LS_T3` are key=value lists,
so they are merged with the default's keys, and a blank value keeps the
default. Copying `style` breaks the lookup (the default then has no style 0 and
the game falls back to a built-in model).

**Perk boost.** `FRONTEND\RTTS\EQUIPMENTDESCRIPTIONS.XML` gives each slot a
`pctBoost` per rarity. Empty slots count as rarity 0 ("Common", 0%), so setting
`rarityLevel="0" pctBoost` to 6 gives every slot the Diamond boost.

**Mod format.** Ryujinx LayeredFS: files under
`mods\contents\0100AA7024094000\<ModName>\romfs\` replace the same paths in the
game's RomFS. Ryujinx's log confirms it, for example
`ModLoader ApplyRomFsMods: Replaced 2 file(s) over 1 mod(s)`.

**Save format.** Career saves are
`bis\user\save\<index>\{0,1}\CARRxxxxxxxx\`. `SAVE_000` is a plain zlib stream
(no encryption) of a tagged table database. `SAVEINFO` holds the title (first
128 bytes), a timestamp, and the SHA-256 of `SAVE_000` at offset `0x88`. Each
table appears twice: first a schema (16-byte tag, u32 size, u32 field count,
then 32-byte field entries: 22-byte name, u16 index, u16 element size, u16
count, u16 total size), later the data (16-byte tag, u32 record count, fields
packed largest element size first, schema order within a size). Tokens are
`D_CR_TRNG_DATA.SHOW_TOKENS` (u16). The editor recompresses, rewrites the hash,
and writes both slot folders.

**Memory.** Token and attribute values in RAM are not stored as plain numbers,
so ordinary Cheat Engine value scans do not find them. Edit the save instead.

**Reverse-engineering helpers (`tools/re`).** Install `pip install capstone
lz4`. Extract ExeFS in Ryujinx (right-click > Extract Data > ExeFS), then:

```
python nso.py "<exefs folder>\main" # writes main.bin (flat image; offsets = cheat offsets)
python xref.py enb_mobile modelname # find strings and the code that uses them
python armdis.py 0x1746700 0x17468b0 # disassemble a range with string notes
python -c "from calls import callers; print([hex(a) for a in callers(0x1745dd0)])"
```

Run them in the folder where `main.bin` should be written or already is.

```
python --version
```

```
python mlb_save_edit.py list
```

Example output: `CARR00000000BA2DCBC7 - First Last, Smokies SP/3B May 13, 2026`

2. Show the training/token data of a career (any unique part of the folder
name works, for example `BA2D`):

```
python mlb_save_edit.py show BA2D
```

`SHOW_TOKENS` is your token count.

3. Set the tokens (maximum 65535):

```
python mlb_save_edit.py set BA2D D_CR_TRNG_DATA SHOW_TOKENS 9999
```

## How it works (technical notes)

These notes are for anyone who wants to extend the kit.

**Equipment data.** `FRONTEND\EQUIPMENT\MLBEQUIPMENT.JSON` (in the RomFS)
lists 713 equipment models in `eqlist`. Each has `id`, `type`, `style`,
`brand`, `tier`, `enb`, `enb_mobile`, `modelname` and `gfxinfo`. The game
loads them into a table of 64-byte entries:

| Offset | Field |
|---|---|
| `+0x00` | type (u32) |
| `+0x04` | sort (u16) |
| `+0x06` | style (u16) |
| `+0x08` | brand |
| `+0x0C` | tier |
| `+0x10` | disabled (`enb != 1`) |
| `+0x11` | `enb_mobile` |
| `+0x30` | model name pointer |
| `+0x38` | gfxinfo pointer |

The game finds an item by **(type, style)**, not by `id` (functions at
`main+0x1747770` and `main+0x17477E0` in 1.0.1). Style 0 is the generic default
of each type. Offline, the Equipment Style menu only offers the default styles
(brand 0). The swapper keeps the default's `type`/`style` and copies the
branded item's `name`, `brand`, `tier`, `modelname` and `gfxinfo`.
`modelname`/`gfxinfo` values like `dg=bat, bclr=$_LS_T3` are key=value lists,
so they are merged with the default's keys, and a blank value keeps the
default. Copying `style` breaks the lookup (the default then has no style 0 and
the game falls back to a built-in model).

**Perk boost.** `FRONTEND\RTTS\EQUIPMENTDESCRIPTIONS.XML` gives each slot a
`pctBoost` per rarity. Empty slots count as rarity 0 ("Common", 0%), so setting
`rarityLevel="0" pctBoost` to 6 gives every slot the Diamond boost.

**Mod format.** Ryujinx LayeredFS: files under
`mods\contents\0100AA7024094000\<ModName>\romfs\` replace the same paths in the
game's RomFS. Ryujinx's log confirms it, for example
`ModLoader ApplyRomFsMods: Replaced 2 file(s) over 1 mod(s)`.

**Save format.** Career saves are
`bis\user\save\<index>\{0,1}\CARRxxxxxxxx\`. `SAVE_000` is a plain zlib stream
(no encryption) of a tagged table database. `SAVEINFO` holds the title (first
128 bytes), a timestamp, and the SHA-256 of `SAVE_000` at offset `0x88`. Each
table appears twice: first a schema (16-byte tag, u32 size, u32 field count,
then 32-byte field entries: 22-byte name, u16 index, u16 element size, u16
count, u16 total size), later the data (16-byte tag, u32 record count, fields
packed largest element size first, schema order within a size). Tokens are
`D_CR_TRNG_DATA.SHOW_TOKENS` (u16). The editor recompresses, rewrites the hash,
and writes both slot folders.

**Memory.** Token and attribute values in RAM are not stored as plain numbers,
so ordinary Cheat Engine value scans do not find them. Edit the save instead.

**Reverse-engineering helpers (`tools/re`).** Install `pip install capstone
lz4`. Extract ExeFS in Ryujinx (right-click > Extract Data > ExeFS), then:

```
python nso.py "<exefs folder>\main" # writes main.bin (flat image; offsets = cheat offsets)
python xref.py enb_mobile modelname # find strings and the code that uses them
python armdis.py 0x1746700 0x17468b0 # disassemble a range with string notes
python -c "from calls import callers; print([hex(a) for a in callers(0x1745dd0)])"
```

Run them in the folder where `main.bin` should be written or already is.
