
TL;DR a beginner isn't going to bother soldering a bunch of wires to the flash chip to write new ROMs, it's way too finicky to perform and not convenient unless you want to experiment with the hardware in mind.If it uses the carrier board with the BGA Flash, then it might be possible, as it exposes the /WE as a jumper pad on top.
However, there are a LOT of pins you need to solder (20 to 24 address pins, 16 data pins, /OE, and /WR), so even just finding something to rewrite it with enough pins is a challenge in itself.
You'd also need to desolder the carrier board (without tearing up any of the pads away from the board), or find the undocumented pin that puts all pins into High-Z mode (afaik the chip always drives some control signals, even when held in /RESET), otherwise you won't even be able to read out the thing, let alone rewrite it.
And lastly, you'd need to keep the menu somewhat intact, as depending on the output method, it initializes the image output in a non-standard way, so you wouldn't get an image.

@JKysSa You're better off buying a handheld that has a microSD slot and with better hardware in mind to emulate not just NES games; rather than wasting your money on a $15 cheap Famiclone. It's not upgradeable like the other poster said without physical mods.
Usually these are just dumb famiclones using the same hardware from the 90s, and all the games are on a separate chip. Nothing would prevent you from replacing the chip with your own containing whatever games you like.hello. i own a 620 games in one console. i was wondering if there is a way to add custom games to it? thanks!
