Hey guys, so i heard "apptousb" payload supports usb game installs, is it true? also, can it install from a disc also? i just bought a usb 3.0 hdd and set it up as an extension hard drive on my ps4 and was wondering if it will allow this when thos cfw comes out.

I've never tried it, but from my understanding, you have to install to the internal hdd first, then, the game has to be transferred to an external hdd (formatted as exfat). I don't believe this works but for one game at a time.

the holy grail dev said he'd never support external hdd support due to piracy, so you're limited. @KiiWii may know the details better than I do as this is just my understanding of it.

We dont know yet really if mira will ever support official ps4 extended storage.

We can assume that symlink method (apptousb) will work though as its a simple redirect.

This requires exfat and not extended storage formatting.

It cant install from disc, you need to dump first, then install and finally redirect to external.

M0rph3us1987 did indeed say he would not support external drives officially as it promoted piracy: so reading between the lines = its possible to do.

Hey KiiWii, I've been meaning to pick your brain regarding this issue, seeing as you're pretty knowledgeable and always willing to help lost and confused souls :yay:
What are the actual limitations of this jailbreak? And are some of these limitations self-imposed by the devs (by design?) The reason I ask is, I've been in the 'scene' for a while and know most consoles have more than one partition situated on their internal flash or hdd, (Sony usually uses these partitions to store console activation files, online profiles etc) yet we only have access to one partition whilst using this jailbreak on either a 4.05 or 4.55 console.

The main reason I'm curious is due to the fact that I have been trying to get remote play working on a non-activated console and I'm sure the answer lies within these hidden partitions (same with the official ps4 media player issue most people are having).

M0rph3us1987 states he won't support external HDD's due to the piracy issue (wut? majority of people using his payload or other variants of it are using it for exactly that:unsure:) but I personally think in order to allow ext HDD support, he has to make the currently hidden partitions accessible.

What do you think? Maybe I'm wide off the mark but just a theory:tpi:

@Broka hey man!

You could try use the R-RW payload by lightningmods_ to get access to all partitions.

Copying files off is easy via ftp, putting them back on is where it gets sketchy if you mess about too much you brick hard.

Oh, I wasn't aware such a payload currently existed. Time to do some more digging then, thanks for the heads up and yes, I will heed your warning.

My symlinked games are working. (But the last time I ran the app2usb payload I was on 4.55.)
