If you followed this guide:

Then you should have boot.firm in the CTRNAND (because it tells you to copy it over there in one of the steps). If so, then it should boot without a SD inserted.

Well, anyways. Format your SD card to FAT32, put boot.firm from Luma 7.1 on there and try it. If it boots, I suggest you follow this guide: https://3ds.guide/updating-b9s to update to Luma 8.0

1) Are you sure you're on B9S, not A9LH?
2) When did you do it?
3) Are you absolutely positive your SD card is FAT32? Not ExFAT, not NTFS, etc. - FAT32.
4) Is the boot.firm from Luma 7.1 or Luma 8.0?

Yes, I have. Also, it did boot without the sd card yesterday. Now after I did luma updater and rebooted, it stopped booting.

luma 8.0 only works on B9S 1.2 if your on 1.0 or 1.1 you'll have to downgrade to luma 7.1 download link here, https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/download/v7.1/Luma3DSv7.1.7z
Extract Zip folder and copy the boot.firm to the root of your SD card. then go back to the 3ds.guide and look up how to update B9S to 1.2 before using luma updater again to re-download 8.0
