And also, could somebody make a website that would host 3d videos, like trailers or videos ripped from the video service, I would really like to see the zelda orchestra again!
+1

That would be awesome. Shame that the 3DS can't stream the videos, really. It's quite a pain having to download them and transfer via SD card.

Hello!!

I make a new GUI fixed some errors and added new options.

Thanx to SifJar and to spinal_cord to make this possible.

Two option:

1. Quality by numbers 1 to 31: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TZGNVG2K

2 . Quality by Bitrate: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F59U9O7E

I will try and fix the bugs discussed (i.e. it not working for side-by-side videos) tonight, and if I can get to work, will then work on adding automatic file splitting and side-by-side mirroring. Possibly also options for changing bitrate & FPS instead of Quality (you'll be able to choose which you want to change).

If anyone has any idea how to fix the date on the videos, I would be happy to try and implement something for that too.

EDIT: If amzg's program works better than mine, and people seem to like it, I may abandon mine.

EDIT: I have noticed my stupid mistake, side-by-side videos should work once I upload the new version. There's a couple of other things I want to do before uploading v0.2 though. I will have uploaded whatever I have within the next 5 hours or so.

Its the same program xD, changed some things, please dont abadon yours, together we can make a better program xD

Check source files ;)

I added the v0.15 binary (i.e. the .exe only) to the first post. It should now work for converting videos. As a bonus, it now names them correctly too. In other words, choose the 3DS video directory as the "Video folder" and you won't have to move or rename any files after conversion.

Features planned for v0.2 (should release tonight):

*Automatic splitting of videos
*Mirrored input option
*Advanced quality controls

great news!!!

Quick question, I'm kinda useless at these things,

Does the video has to be in AVI format when using this software and if so what program would convert it to be readable on 3DS terms?

Nope, the source video can be practically any format. Because this uses FFMpeg, it can convert just about anything to the correct format. The result will be in an AVI container (i.e. will be a ".AVI" file).

Ah okay, cheers.

The outcome is automatically 480x240, 20fps and so on to be viewable on the 3DS with this program?

Yup. For 3D videos, it has the two MJPEG streams necessary as well.

EDIT: Another feature I plan to add in v0.2:

*Remembering video folder (won't have to reselect everytime)

Don't know if I'm overlooking something, but any of my 3D side by side videos don't seem to appear on my 3DS. I've run them through the batch file, double checked it followed the XXX_YYYY.AVI guideline, but it's still not showing up.

2D videos work absolutely fine though.

Any advice or suggestions?

I noticed that it worked best if I named it "HNI_00xx" where "xx" is the number following what is already there (eg- I had HNI_0014.AVI, HNI_0015.AVI so I named the new file HNI_0016.AVI)
I have the exact same problem... the 3DS doesn't seem to recognise the file at all... I rename them to HNI_00xx but still nothing...

did you look at the start? Apparently the date on them is 1990, so they show up right at the start.

Yup! Nothing over there! It's weird, because the video is converted successfully
Edit: I re-converted them and they seem to be working... but in 2D with the side by side images... Suggestions?

Hmm. I don't have many 3D videos (none, as a matter of fact), but just being able to play 2D videos, too, on a 3DS sounds great.

I have a couple of questions, though. Firstly, I think this program can convert .mkv files, too - but will it show subtitles? If not (and I doubt it would), would it be possible to add this feature? You don't need to do it, I'm just wondering if it's even possible at all.
Secondly, will any future releases of this program give you the option to automatically split a video file into ten-minute videos?
(If this feature has already been added, then please excuse me. ^^)

Thanks a lot for your hard work!

Edit: I just found this post: http://gbatemp.net/topic/315337-convert-any-3d-movie-to-watch-on-the-3ds/page__st__60__p__4009206#entry4009206 , so I guess my second question has already been answered (or solved, rather).
I'm not sure if I've many .avi files, though. I'll check. Thanks anyway! :D
