It works for me when I convert a 2D video, but side by side videos won't play. The 3DS says it can't be played because the format is unrecognized.

This is how the side by side converted video looks on my computer.

have the same problem

I hate Nintendo for limiting us to 10 minutes. They most likely did this to prevent us from converting full movies/tv shows to the device.

Edit: I also tried converting a side by side video i downloaded from youtube but it just shows up side by side on my 3ds.

I don't mind chopping up videos into 10 min portions, they are easy to select and start quickly on the lower screen

I wouldn't necessarily say that. They planned it for what the recorder would do, which is up to 10 minutes of video recording, so, they only needed it to playback 10 minutes. The average 3DS user wouldn't know they could upload their recorded videos to YT, and even less know at this moment that we can convert videos to work on the 3DS itself. IMO, if Nintendo is watching this progress of us getting videos onto the 3DS, they'll do either one of two things. First is do nothing because there is no real harm being done, but second is possibly giving us what we want, and that is playback of our own videos through maybe a separate app. I didn't list them trying to block our attempts, because that would be dangerous to mess with current recorded videos.

I didn't try it yet, but I want to say thank you to both Sifjar for the GUI and Spinal_cord to find the format and how to convert it :)

I guess we can also convert the video using any other video manipulation programs (like avisynth)?.
But the GUI is always a nice choice.

Possibly, as long as you can set the parameters/arguments like spinal's example.

I'll start ASAP a Qt app to make the same thing. I'm impressed that the whole program was defined in a 900 byte source code file, impressive!
Qt is multi-platform, it will run on Windows, Linux, Mac and other platforms too.

I'm thinking of using a simple, supplied, convert script, this way users can toggle some things if they wish.

If you guys are having problems with this program, then you can use this batch file until the fix comes out:

http://pastebin.com/1EyEyvNU

(Copy and pasted the code - just copy into notepad and save as .bat - remember to save as "All Files")

BTW, you need the ffmpeg application that's included with the original download on this thread.

You sure you've got the file named correctly? It should be in the format XXX_YYYY.AVI (where X = letter, Y = number).
Thanks, didn't know this. Now they show up but with the date 01.01.1900 is there anything to do about that?

I'm not sure about that. Mine show up as 1900, too, so I suppose it's just an inherent issue with using this method.

Don't know if I'm overlooking something, but any of my 3D side by side videos don't seem to appear on my 3DS. I've run them through the batch file, double checked it followed the XXX_YYYY.AVI guideline, but it's still not showing up.

2D videos work absolutely fine though.

Any advice or suggestions?

AWESOME app, better than using the FormatFactory :D this should be posted on the first page!
About using the gui and not getting 3D videos using a side by side video i think the program is using the top/bottom instead the side/side option.

And a little tip, you can create a folder for your videos inside the DCIM folder, for exemple 100VID01 :)

I noticed that it worked best if I named it "HNI_00xx" where "xx" is the number following what is already there (eg- I had HNI_0014.AVI, HNI_0015.AVI so I named the new file HNI_0016.AVI)

I new this would come out sooner or later :)

But just a quick question - Using this method, can you make the videos longer than 10 mins?

And also, could somebody make a website that would host 3d videos, like trailers or videos ripped from the video service, I would really like to see the zelda orchestra again!
