Hacking 3DS Ver 11.6.0.39U Where to start?

Before I do anything I wanted to ask all of you what the best route for me to take would be. Im not sure what tutorials are compatible with the version I am starting with or if I need to upgrade to a newer firmware before attempting to install CFW. Any info would be greatly appreciated .

Since im in the all versions "" catagory being on 11.6.39U I really cant do anything if I dont have a flashcart or hardmod? I cant use SD card or have to purchase flashcard?

Picking up a cheap r4 flashcart that can use ntrboot shouldn't be too hard to get.

The first couple of them have links to a vendor that sells them. Otherwise you will have to wait until you got 100 post before you can visit the trading forum here. You can also find them ebay or amazon if you know what your looking for.

CFW enabled 3DS can basically run any CIA game you can find on the net. Flashcarts are only good if you want to run a stock system. With what everyone feels is the impending EOL announcement of the 3DS next year, there is no reason why you shouldn't CFW your 3DS.

Getting something like this will let you CFW your 3DS is far cheaper than buying a sky3DS+.

Just update to 11.9 and use seedminer. When going for a flashcart, get the R4i Gold 3DS Plus. The R4 doesn't play 3DS games; that's what your CFW is gonna be for. The R4 will get you all that ntrboot goodness, and a way to store tons of DS games in one place.

No no no. No one suggested you get a 3DS flashcart.
All you need to do is update your firmware to the latest version and use the seedminer method.

Exactly, I also said that, CFW can play both 3DS games and DS games(Using homebrews). The OP may only get a DS flashcart for recovery or hacking purpose. Other than that THERE IS NO REASON at all to get one(maybe only for better ds games compatibility)

Buy a cheap R4i gold 3ds plus, then play free DS games in its DS mode and install CFW to play 3DS roms in NTR mode, that's my way. But I also have a sky3ds+ card for another 3DS console, no CFW, play .3ds games directly, I enjoy it too, and my little brother feels the same.

Hi, I have a CFW New 3DS XL. My R4i 3DS Gold Plus arrived yesterday and when I move the switch from D to N, the card doesn't show up at all in my console. Is this supposed to happen? How do you play .3ds rom files off it? Cheers.

You use the card to install cfw. the card you have will not play .3ds files off of it.
