so the new japanese supercomputer runs at over 9 petaflops , its over 4 times faster than the chinese supercomputer that broke the U.S. record last year,so how long would that machine take to do it?

How exactly did you sniff thes files? If I use Wireshark all I can see are ARP and DNS requests but none of the specifics, ie what files are downloaded, and if I try ARP poisoning the 3DS won't connect :-(
I'm using a proxy which list all URL (CF3B5's proxy).
You can then click on each link to download the files using your usual internet browser. (no need to sniff the files, the URL is enough).

I'm also using Etheral+WinPcap to sniff all transmitted packets and protocols.

Okay thanks for the info, however surely Wireshark should work just fine seeing as it's the updated version of Ethereal? And yet I never see the packets for some reason.

EDIT

Sorry I'm being silly, please ignore me, got it sorted now.

To all you who say bruteforcing is not an option... I was watching Chuck the other day and they were bruteforcing (as they said) a 512-bit AES key which only took them a minute at most. Now I say we need their computer!

/sarcasm off

Sorry I really felt like sharing this xd

Okay, today I tried to unzip the files with 7z. Amazingly, it successfully unzipped. Now, when I opened the files with Programming NotePad, there were many, many mathematical equations.

Take a look at the last file. This is one of the equations I found at the beginning:

(Ü÷t´và¯å;羬üuŸ0§Ì~{,(qè - Vk = éþïÆp¾ýËdTK¾óÉsü“ÁúSsùt † mãp1 j¯r7s‘ - ëÏûÜ£¥ « ׇ®Ÿõ0‚; §?¯L‘ > ꯘ » –Wl8; | > ö¢‰Ñ › 2 — ݳüzfÎuO = [S–—Šºƒš7lgD Ê¡yê|A { 8ÑŠŠ’ˈ²|c2ùÂ%ûÎû = x¯PKøtšÀ » • & ß ¤ ¡€: šœÿe } t¢@x—ˆ.ˉfôéû8ànmËdW ]xíÆ9Àõ?: ñùáoePø¥ü4{ ¼1 )ià™0¯œ: [ÊÀx † k…a3\]éÖ » -b`òT¹ÄqË1C † õ/󧅩該z"[£Áì½’ – ™†`É·QèJØ‘}£º¥ÜäÔ… ¦ ÅV’ » sòÙZrëéXÿšîÆçªû8ÿÝK.¼å¡7a˜7õ › ƒ » Í † ì « ø‡’3 l FÌøcžÙˆ‚ ©Ùpcd°?Ψ ‹ ü’Xèg2è£'yá ± NÊH)

I am still finding out how to solve it. If anybody wants to help, they are glad to answer.

Lol does any one seriously think a viable hack will come from this.
Well, anyfile on the Nintendo 3DS would be, since of the large security that is processed in and out. If each file has securities that make allowed for the Nintendo 3DS, they might have have something for us.

I'm sorry, but I just had to make an account here to reply to this post. I do not believe that this is an equation. It is alot more likely that you are reading the bytes as characters instead of their intended format, as you would not see any of the source code in the compiled (or compressed) version of the file as plain text. The operands that you assume mean this is some sort of algorithm are just pure coincidences. Besides, why would they be doing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, bitwise operations, and boolean operators on random characters?

I do not believe that you will be able to hack the 3DS with your current skill level. You really should either begin learning more, or just give up.

I don't think that, just because there are some mathematical symbols in there, it means that that's a valid equation. What symbols you see also depends on what character encoding you use when viewing this file in NotePad, i think.

edit: too late...

Well, actually I used Programmer's Notepad(not NotePad). Notepad wasn't as clear as Programmer's Notepad.

Well, since you assume I just started learning homebrew, it is quite wrong. I have been at this kind of stuff for years. So, I have been testing this on many encodings(which took a while).

Well since you assume opening a file in any sort of text editor is the correct thing to do when attempting to find out what is contained in a file [that is not a plain text file], you are quite wrong. Try a hex editor? That may give you better results, although you are not likely to get much, if anything, out of it.

Also, this really isn't anything to do with homebrew.

Actually, I tried in many editors(had to download them though), and tried to compare them. I haven't tried Hex editor yet.

And, yes actually I do understand Hex.

EDIT: Wow....This gave me way better results. I'll get working on this now. Thanks.

*facepalm* you've never even tried a hex editor before and you think you're going to crack the 3ds encryption? oh dear...good luck to you.

Well, I said I understand it, I didn't say I would crack it today.

It will probably take me months to crack just one half of a file, but luckly I have that much time on my hands.

EDIT: If someone wants to give a crack at it, you can go here to download the Hex editor. Hex isn't really that hard to learn either, so you can look up How to understand Hex, and you will probably learn along the way.

At first, I thought this was some sort of joke...

But then...
