I want to transfer my 3ds to my 3dsxl. The problem is I have the digital copy of Fire Emblem on my XL and over 70 hours in game with all the dlc. Is there a way to transfer without loosing all of it?

after reading Nintendo page on this after transferring copy the data via pc to the other sdcard if planed to use knew sd card
if not gonna use new card then just pop the sd card in

No need for anything special. In the transfer it will tell you when to move the SD card to the other 3DS, it's really easy and nothing at all is changed. Same friend code, saves, everything.

But the only thing I want from the 3ds is the ambassador games.

That doesn't usually happen so you must have done something wrong or something went wrong with your SD cards.
Fire Emblem was on my xl which was the target system. If I put my old .sav file in it says it's corrupted and deletes it.

Something similar happened to me when I transferred from my old 3DS to a new 3DS XL. Every GBA Ambassador game got corrupted, the saves were fine but 9 out of 10 time I started the game I got an error. Had to re download everything to make it work.

Oh! I see now. Yeah it overwrites everything on the target system with the older systems files. But the two eshop accounts are merged when you transfer, so you had to redownload fire emblem. And yeah saves can't be transferred since it doesn't recognize it as "from that system". Sorry to hear all that progress was lost. :/
