Hardware 3DS stuck on update screen

I have a problem, my 3DS is stuck on the update screen, the small blue square that should cycle is stuck. I don't know what is wrong. It first said that it downloaded the update and that it was not necessary to connect to the internet. Now its stuck, advice/help would be much appreciated as I can't turn it off, bummer.

Holding the power wont work?Rip the battery as Last resort obviously, turning off in an update makes bricks.

if its frozen you gotta do a hard reset

yes it is, will this brick it if I turn off, hard reset is pushing down the power button for 3 seconds right?

Sorry for bump, I just wanted to say that powering off then on worked, and I was able to install the latest update again.
Thanks to the Pong20302000 for the advice.

I actually called nintendo and the operator gave the same advice, told me I was the first to call about that specific problem. I wonder
how many people have also encountered the freezing update.

it it freezes it not doing anything so its pretty safe to turn off
