Remember what Ninty said a few days/weeks ago (don't remember exactly), they said that they are not satisfied with their online service.
That means that they are going to do something about it ... I think.
I would really like it to have an achievement system, ore something like it. Of course if Nintendo will make such a system they will name it and adapt it to their own style.
What features would you guys like?

Names.

No friends codes, for the love of God please no friend codes.

Hmm, how about a system that lets people know you're online that also works with networking sites like facebook of twitter. (shows something like a 3DS icon for online status.)

zOmg it would rock if you had mii's instead of friend codes

Well, Microsoft added their Miis (I mean avatars) to profiles, so Nintendo could do the opposide (add profiles to their Miis)

If the processor is strong enough. Maybe a video chat client.

The newest Pokemon game, when played with a DSi, allows video chat with up to 3 other people, even though the frame rate for the other 3 is pretty bad. From what we've seen with the 3DS already, it should be able to handle it with no problem.

No shit? well I didn't know that. If it's being implemented already, I'm sure they'll add it.

You'll probably have to pay for it.

Actually I remember Nintendo saying subscription services like Xbox live weren't suited to their customers and I'm pretty sure that it will stay free.

I think they shoud put more focus on DLC, games like mario kart are great but can get repetative after a while so being able to download new tracks/areas etc or possibly even characters would be great. I agree that friend codes are really annoying and that they should use Miis or a main account in all online games.

A 3D video chat client?

You know they'll be shoving this 3D business up every crevice they can.

I'd just like it to be friend codeless, speedier (Browsing DSiShop and Wii Shop is horrible), and just social- and communication-friendly.

Xbox Live and PSN are almost equal in what they offer, the only difference I can think of from the top of my head is Cross game chat. When people say they want something better than NWFC and less than PSN/Xbox Live I don't understand what they're getting at.

Now then I want:
Online name based service,

Messaging(Blackberries are selling like hot cakes because of BB messenger),

Voice chat(They showed this before the DS launched but never used it as a seperate app),

Video calling(Pokemon is going to have it, they've added features into the games that are included in 3DSes hardware, I say this because Gamefreak were the first to recieve the dev kit and at this rate all 3DS feature are being put into B&W. Such as improved IR and the Tag Mode)

Achievements

Latest Feed(Facebook kind of style)

Friends List (with what game they are playing and have played)

Now if the EA sports person was correct then the list I just mentioned (apart from video and voice chat) these features are very likely to appear.
