Hacking 3DS NAND Reflash

I have a 3ds XL, I have soldered in the hardware mod and when I plug it in I get the BOOTROM 8046 bluescreen. I now need to know how to reflash the NAND. I've heard of the way to do it with an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi, but I was wondering if there was a way to do that with a PC or a Mac.
 
Yes. Use Win32DiskImager to write your NAND backup to the "removable device" that got added into your system when you connected.

Also, use the search bar, this has been covered extensively :)
 
nope, raspberry pi or arduino only....not going into specific, but basically PC's and mac's wouldn't have enough control over the SD reader to issue the low level commands to unlock the nand.


^This is also true. However, are you trying an unlock or just a rewrite?
 
Sorry guys, I had been searching all day through google and then I found an article about it using the site's search only just recently. I have done the hard mod, and when I insert the stick in my computer, It's a mac booted into bootcamp, nothing comes up. Do I need a special driver, I haven't seen any reference of this, or is this evidence I did something wrong? The blue screen shows up.
 
Just write your backup via win32diskimager. Just read you're on a mac. Not too sure how to write NAND via Mac.

When you boot into bootcamp, it turns the entire computer into a pc. I can't seem to see the disk in "My Computer", do you have any tips on how to debug what could have possible gone wrong? How much would you bill to install one of the micro usb mods?
 
I went to micro JST to avoid the confusion of plugging the 3DS directly to the computer.

It looks to me as if pins 3 and 6 aren't connected to each other (but I don't know for sure if they should, on the drawing it does look that way). Can someone back me up on this?

This isn't actually a picture of my soldering. I was asking about the wiring diagram on the paper. I ran through those pictures with my multimeter and all the lines are soldered in correctly, it just still doesn't show up on my computer when I plug in the disk.
 
Arduino is needed instead of PC for deliberate bricks ONLY because they set the lock on the NAND chip? So any accidental brick can be reverted by PC?
 
One quick question, sorry for the double post, how do I write my NAND.bin. Do I need to convert it into a .iso for Win32 Disk Imager? It says that it is write protected.

did you loose the lil write protect tab off the SD card adapter? thats the usual cause as people think its not connect = its not needed....it is, it hits the switch in the reader that lets the computer know if its write protected or not, if you have lost it you can probably get away with just sticking a bit of tape around the adapter so its not write protected

I'm really glad I just read your response. I know that damn little piece of plastic fell out when I opened my adapter to solder it. Good thing
I have another to steal it from. Would have driven me nuts trying to figure out what the hell I soldered wrong, heh.
