Yesterday I found what seems to be the correct fix for the mGBA hanging issues that have been plaguing me and @endrift the last few weeks

And it turned out to be... a patch for a ctrulib bug which I had written 9 months ago, but never polished and PRed back then.

Could've saved us (and prob. more people with similar issues) so much time if I'd had the foresight to do that then. :/

Good news! Hope it get merged soon.

I've been testing the latest nightly (16th September build) on N3DS XL with 10.0.0-27. ROMs are played at 1:1 scale displayed on the top screen with no additional custom settings. Here are some notes:

The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

Game runs at 100% for the most part, almost indistinguishable from playing on original GBA hardware
Occasional slowdowns when there are >5 other actors on-screen or in faux 3D scenes like inside the barrel in the first dungeon
Occasional audio crackles
No crashes encountered

Metroid Fusion

Almost perfect emulation, occasional slowdowns during cutscenes
Occasional audio crackles that come and go seemingly randomly, no discernible pattern
Audio crackles seem to abruptly stop if I press Y to change screen scaling
No crashes encountered

Pokémon Leaf Green

Game constantly runs slower than full speed
No audio crackling encountered
No crashes encountered

Pokémon Ruby

Almost perfect emulation, rare slowdowns and audio crackles
No crashes encountered

Super Mario Advance 2

Almost perfect emulation, rare slight slowdowns
Almost constant audio crackling, again fixed by pressing Y to change scaling
No crashes encountered

Wario Land 4

Almost perfect emulation, slowdowns only during countdowns
No crashes encountered

Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls

Constant slowdowns
Constant audio crackles
No crashes encountered

This is a 3DS Emulator? If yes, Pokemon X/Y works?
That was expected. c_c Thank you.
All you had to do was read the OP.
GAMES TESTED ON mGBA :-

1. Advance Wars 2 - Full Speed, Not so great sound (with Dwedit's speedhack, USA ROM Only)
2. Harvest Moon FMT - Full Speed, I think. Good sound
3. Harvest Moon MFMT - Full Speed, I think. Good sound
4. Mother 3 - Adequate FPS, Not so great sound
5. PKMN Mystery Dungeon RRT - Adequate FPS, Not so great sound
6. Super Robot Taisen OG - Full Speed, I think. Not so great sound
7. Super Robot Taisen OG2 - Full Speed, I think. Not so great sound
8. Super Robot Wars J - Full Speed, I think. Good sound

:sp: Everybody download the latest nightly. It fixes the scaling issue and is in my opinion faster than the previous builds.
It's been a few weeks since I tested the last build, so I'll try and compare this build to my old one on O3DS to see if any fps increase shows up.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
