Well it's hard to prove a negative, but even harder when the console isn't out in two of the big three regions, and not even a month there.

It's illegal to remove features from a product you've sold.
So causing the console to not play games would be illegal.
In the EU at least.

This is not illegal. If you break the user agreement, a developer can remove features from a software.

Sure it is.
Look at the lawsuit against Sony when they removed OtherOS.
A user agreement doesn;t allow companies to break the law.
A contract must always stay within the law, or else it is void, and that's what a user agreement is(contract).

You're using Windows, right? Well, the EULA, when broken, tells you to delete the OS.

Try sending your serial key to a pirate site, be it any software, you probably won't get updates anymore. Feature removed.

Updates to software aren't what I paid for when I bought an Operating System, so I'll use your own example to confirm my own point.
When you use a pirated key, they will limit your ability to simple use of the system, which is what an operating system is for.
It's like a work-to-rule strike, the employees do what's in their contracts, nothing more.

If you're suggesting Nintendo could not allow you to use the shop or change your brightness setting or whatever, then yeah they can do that.
You'll still be able to play a retail 3DS cartridge though.

That's a service, not a good.

The entire existence of the OtherOS class-action lawsuit invalidates your theory, so don't even try it. You're not the first (and won't be the last), and we're just tired of it, so please do some more reading.

But first make sure you know the difference between a good and service.

Q: Can Nintendo brick 3DS systems if I use a flashcart on it?
A - To put it bluntly, no.

Then why all those news about it

Have other question
Can the DS games(Flashcarts) be stretched to fit the 3DS top screen?

It's not "all those news", it's ONE Shop overreacting after reading the standard warning about using unauthorized products being a potentional risk to break your system that has been used since the very beginning of console gaming and tons of stupid blogs copying it.

And no, you dan't make DS games fit the whole tospreen, but why would you want that? Everything would look awfully fat

[*]Q: How would I hack the 3DS?
A - You would need the R4iDSN, Acekard 2i, M3i Zero, Supercard DSONEi, Supercard DSTWO, CycloDS iEvolution or any other flashcarts in the list below. I suggest the Supercard DSTWO if you're planning on purchasing a 3DS flashcart but feel free to choose any other flashcart. in the list below
[/list][*]CycloDS iEvolution (Works on firmware v2.1+)[*]R4iDSN or R4i Gold[*]Acekard 2i (Team Acekard stated that they will release a firmware enabling 3DS compatibility soon)[*]Supercard DSTWO [*]M3i Zero[*]Supercard DSONEi[*]Amazekard[*]EX4i[*]EZ Flash Vi[*]R4iCN[*]iSmart Premium
  • Q: Do existing DS flashcarts work on the 3DS?
A - Eight flashcarts have been confirmed to work with an update. Some of those flashcarts are the Acekard 2i, R4IDSN, M3i Zero, Supercard DSONEi and Supercard DSTWO. Look at the list above for a full list of flashcarts that work on the 3DS.The CycloDS iEvolution is the only known flashcart that works without an update. More flashcarts are going to be working in the near future as all reflashable DSi compatible flashcarts are able to support DSmode on the 3DS.

I would assume that those only work for NDS games in NDS mode and will never support 3DS games, correct?

SCDS2 might will, due to the onboard CPU. However, as of now, neither of them does.
Folk keep sayin' that and still no sign of DSi mode.
Ain't no bein' no 3DS Mode on my reckonin'.

According to some (unknown) sources, the SC team is working on DSi mode and should be out by May.

I can hack it, just give me an axe, a hammer and a 3DS. No, joke.
Anything that is designed by humans can be broken by humans. Simple.

If it's from what they said on their forums, i've seen zero progress, so i remain doubtful.
