Still waiting for a source.
Game cartridges have two or more chips - one is the ROM chip that contains the game and isn't rewritable, one is eeprom/FLASH which stores the save files and is rewritable, the additional chips may be memory controllers or additional, game-specific hardware (very rare - memory controllers are embedded on the silicone of the memory chips nowadays, mapper chips are a thing of the past and none of the 3DS games uses game-specific hardware as of today). That's how cartridges work in general, not just on the 3DS. If you want a source for this basic knowledge, read some articles on wikipedia concerning cartridges. If you want a 3DS-specific source, read up on 3DS-brew.

...wasn't going to post... but read the likes YOU posted... there some proof on that there..
I have read them actually. The closest is "it allows for nearly instant load time and code execution. Software run directly from ROM typically uses less RAM, leaving memory free for other processes. While the standard size of optical media dictates a minimum size for devices which can read disks," which it lacks.

That's a statement, not a source.

dont, just leave while you can. you wont find anything new here for a bit, these guys are having an epic battle to see who is smarter. my bet is on me ;)

You know man, I am a programmer, Foxi and Pro2man are programmers too.
Would you question a doctor's diagnostic?
Probably no, because he have spent his life studying about that.

But let's suppose you do,
if you want a second professional opinion,
and after seeing a new doctor's with same diagnostic you're still not convinced,
If you see a third doctor, and he gives you the same diagnostic,
do you still think this diagnostic is wrong?

That's basically the same case.

Implying i'm not a programmer either. I specialize in Ironpython. I'm credited with the new Windows 8 exploit. We're on even ground here.
