Given that R4i/3DSlink is blatantly stealing their work, I'd say no.

I'd also be p****d if someone was stealing my work.

Excuse me, what exactly are you stealing with your GW flash card?

Pot calling the kettle black much?? The only reason GW sells flash cards is because people are stealing with them...

All is fair in love and war

At what point has GW sold IP protected material? They do not sell stolen games.

GW created their own code. R4i steals their code. Simple.

I don't see what this has to do with me. I have never sold IP protected material.
In all of this, R4i is the only one selling someone else's intellectual property (GW's code).

Get your argument straight.

Are you seriously forgetting the reason why we buy these flash cards? If it's ok to steal from 3DS publishers, it's ok to steal from the manufacturer allowing this ability. Get it now?

I realize there's a lot of GW diehards here but you can't have it any other way. That would be hypocritical.

He is saying that piracy is not the same thing as plagiarism, which is right.

Speak for yourself. You may do that. I play backups of games I own.

BTW -- it is distributing/selling IP protected material that is illegal (which is what R4i are doing when they copy GW's code), not downloading it.

Semantics since the 'plagiarism' in case is to allow piracy... These aren't mutually exclusive notions.

Do you sincerely believe one is ok and not the other?

Morals are out of discussion here. Flashcard developers don't steal the work of game developers, even if their product can cause a decrease in the sales of these games.

aw, i got a trip in 12 hours, anyone think gw will release later today? btw maxconsole forums say ppl are getting emails where gw team tells em 2.0 final has been delayed to end of year.

As a flashcard manufacturer, it's really dogmatic to make such a declaration before this card comes out.
Everybody almost knows nothing more about it except a video released by the website.
It's really shabby to slander the competitor by this way.

The MT-Card is already on sale on some online stores such as 3ds-flashcard.com.

The r4ids, gateway, and Mt-card are generally sold side by side through the same online and probably brick and mortar retailers. It is fairly probable that these retailers could easily deduce whether two or more cards branded under different names are actually being sold by a single manufacturer.

After all, they do need to regularly transfer funds to the accounts of their suppliers not to mention accept deliveries and send defective units back to the physical addresses of their suppliers.

It would then not be inconceivable that the owner of one of these retailers or even just a key employee with a friendly or sympathetic relationship with Gateway would share a few tidbits of information.

Thus it would certainly not be improbable that Gateway would have access to enough inside information to know whether or not certain competing brands of Flashcards are actually made by a single group.

In my opinion, it seems quite unlikely that Gateway would make such serious allegations without a solid basis. After all, the truth would become self-evident within a few days anyway. Thus if they were to make such a baseless claim, all they would achieve is to tarnish their own credibility.

Don't think it is released in the next 12 Hours, sadly. Don't you can use Mobile Internet ? *smile*

I just hoping that Pokemon work fine.

So I am coming into this after a lot of thought. I realized that, among the other stuff, my kids are never going to let me play their copies of Pokemon...
Sooo, I see that the news post on pg1 says that Gateway supports all updates except for two games now..? Is this correct?

At the moment, yes. I recommend you to monitor this thread on the next days to see what's new after the Gateway team finally releases the "stable" 2.0 version that is supposed to support Pokemon X/Y.

I have a few noob questions about GW 2.0beta because i'm a little confused

I've been searching and i haven't seen a thread with FAQ about this update. I've read a few pages of this thread but still have some questions.

1) If I want to play a 3ds game like zelda a link between worlds do I have to install 2.0 beta and update the emunand?
2) How do you update the emunand? You just update like normal by connecting to the internet in system settings while in gateway mode?
3) Has there been any reports of people correctly updating in gateway mode and it screwing up their system?
4) I read in a few posts that 7.0 is "buggy" is there a way to update to 6.2 over the internet or do you have to have a game with that version? Can you choose what version you want to update to or does nintendo make you update to the latest version everytime? Gateway says on their site only to update through system settings.
5) What is the point of backing up the NAND if there is no way to restore if you accidentally update?
6) Do you have to update the emunand over the internet every time you turn off your console or is it saved on your sd card?

Should I wait until 2.0b2 is released at this point?

Thanks in advance...
