We've all seen the topics about comparing how powerful the 3DS is to other systems, so I've been fantasizing about what could the 3DS do when it is opened up to homebrew.

Personally, I would like to see screen recording directly from the 3DS. If some DS flashcards can do screen caps that feature isn't too farfetched.

What would you want? GBA emulation? Video recording? Something else?

what flashcarts can do ds screen shots?
and i would love to have dsi roms working, as well as 3ds roms (obviously those...!)
and entering the game i select in the flash cart menu into the 3ds log file, i really don't want to see hours upon hours of some random cheap game that just happened to have some exploit in etc etc.
if it is cfw, then i would love to be able to delete 'apps', like, the warning health and safety one, and i guess people would like custom boots...
but what would be the nicest i think, is if we get a cfw, is to load the rom files from the sd card, and show them up the app menu, as an installed game, that would be great! similar to psp cfw.

  • Play ROMS (of course)
  • Play GBA Games
  • Play NDS Games
  • Gamecube emulator maybe ?
  • Compatible with 3DS Home Menu and streetpass
  • Screen recording

* Play 3DS, NDS and GBA ROMs
* Play MY music and Movies
* Work with the 3DS even with firmware updates
* Get rid of that useless region lock

Just everything my SCDS2 is doing right now for the DS but better and for the 3DS.

-play 3DS DSI and gba roms
-plugins (like the PSP)
trick the update process to update on an unofficial server (meaning it will update to cfw only)

Now there u go. My androids r the same update to cfw only.
Also I would like an app to play my own encoded videos. And install games to system menu.

I vote for good N64/GBA/SNES/GBC/NES emulation (all should be possible on a 1ghz processor, just look at the Xperia Play), disable region locking, play our own 3D movies (probably converted), cheat codes implementation, an AP-bypass system similar to SCDS2, DS mode (maybe via external switch?) & cheat codes implemented for DS mode too... hmm well I believe with those features I'd be a friggin' happy camper

I would like mine to be able to time travel.

Obvious stuff is obvious: homebrew, ROM's etc... Mostly I want CFW, the things I'd like to do w/ the 3DS are not likely to be enabled w/ a flashcart.

I too would like to be able to delete or at least hide system apps I don't use and use PSP CFW style plugins and all the other useful things CFW on the PSP allows.

Beyond that, the 3DS takes freaking forever to do anything from the system menu, even just to populate the channels that aren't built in. I suspect this is because of all the security. If custom firmware put a stop to all that checking and faster access to my installed channels/games was a bi-product of that I'd would make me very happy as well.

Suspend DS(i) software and return to the home menu the same way 3DS games do so I can browse GameFAQs or what have you.

Flash support in the browser.

A JVM.

Virtual memory via the SD.

Street Pass via WiFi... Been carrying my 3DS since launch day and I've only managed 3 hits... And all I got was some new Mii's for my plaza.

I could go on for ages I think.

I want it to transform my 3DS into a Virtual Boy. Literally. And if it doesn't, I will rage quit by chucking my 3DS at some random person on the street.

I also want it to double as a bomb.

The Virtual Boy thing is not so hard

I'm not sure about the bomb thing though....

As for CFW dreams, I'd like to see some art and music applications. I'm a sucker for airbrushing and synthesizers

I'm hoping it may be possible to use the IR port for a universal remote control.

it'd be awesome to be able to turn off a TV/radio/whatever that's playing something annoying wherever i go=p

You wouldn't be able to do that; IrdA ports have MUCH narrower range than IR transmitters as they are designed to have direct line of sight at short distance. You would be able to use it as a univeral remote but you'd need to line up pretty much in a straight line and be close.
