I think you should wait at least until the May update. They might not be able to brick your console, but if there is really a way to detect the use of carts, you might not get some of the apps they're going to release with this update.

Well, this is just my opinion anyway.
There already is a way to detect the use of flashcarts. The 3DS has this log that keeps up with what you insert/play (including flashcarts) with your 3DS. In Japan, you can't sell or repair a 3DS that has record of playing with a flashcart.

But I'm pretty sure that there's going to be some kind of AP in the May update.

im looking for a new flashcart for my new 3ds.
i found this one but couldnt find any reliable information about it:

the price is decent but if the cart sucks i might as well buy a acecart2i
Buy an acekard 2i from dsmonkey.com
They're a quality site, bought from them before. Cheap but legit cards.

it's by your choose , man! but there is a truth that all of the current flashards for 3DS are only available for DS mode on 3DS,if you don't care about it, just buy one and enjoy it, DSTwo is ok , AK2i is not so bad....i tsuggest you can wait to see more news ...the 3DS news changes everyday..

Maybe you should wait. Nintendo WON'T brick your 3DS but if they somehow manage to find out that you used a flash cart, they might ban you temporarily from Wi-Fi...?

Just saying...

I don't see why it has to be used on the 3DS. If you have a DSi Flash cart, then you've had(or still have) a DSi. If you don't and you fear nintendo will "take action", then yer shit outta luck.

But so far I don't believe anything because they're all rumors to me.

The flashcarts show up in records as the game they're spoofing the header of, unless every games store in the country is going to be given some secret device for reading covert sytem logs.

I used my AK2i on my 3DS simply because I wanted to play some 3DS games in the pub and trade some pokemon and I cou;dn't be bothered takign both my DSi and 3DS down.

Not about bricking (don't think nintendo will be dumb enough to do that). But they may void your warranty after detect flashcard use on logs.

You should wait to your warranty ends at least.

1. Supercard DSTWO shows up as "Alex Rider - Stormbreaker" on your activity log.
2. You can just format your 3DS system memory and all activity log data goes away.

I don't see what the problem is...

Well if the data is gradually sent to Nintendo, then the damage is already done.

I may be wrong about this, wouldn't be the first time nor would it be the last

, but if there are any negative effects from the use of a flash cart then I think a system format would get rid of all traces.

Probably wouldn't work. Chances are the log is viewed by a combination of keys so retailers can view the log there and then and even then it wouldn't allow and edits to the list. The only time you could edit it would be when it writes an entry to the list. If or when homebrew comes around and someone writes a program to get rid of it a more likely way would be to find out and replicate the writing of the log file then zeroing the log file.

Again that's theoretical but it seems more of a likely chance to me. It's to stop people trading their consoles in, most people factory reset their devices before a trade in to rid the device of their personal information, if the log would be wiped often before a trade in then it becomes useless for what it was designed for.
