I was playing some Pokémon Y today and all of a sudden when I entered a battle both my screens went black. Since my home button doesn't work (the connector broke) I started input redirection. That's when everything stopped responding. I left it that way for some time and came back to see it in the same state. Then I shut it off by holding the power button and tried to power it on again. The blue light turned on for a few seconds but nothing else happened. I tried that a couple of times and then powered it on while holding select and only then it booted into Luma3ds. Does this mean that my 3ds is now bricked?

I do not understand why you would throw around a term like "bricked" if it is still booting into Luma. (Also, technically it is always booting into Luma; you mean that it is booting into the Luma config menu.)

First question: does anything different happen if you remove the SD card?
