Hacking 3DS Custom Code Execution?

I hope they find a way to "downgrade" every 3DS with a CFW or a way to modify the actual FW (obviously when they decrypt it) and reintall it with the same bug :'3 a man can dream

neither of those things will ever happen unless exploits are found in higher firmwares AND furthermore nintendo's AES implementation is buggy (which I doubt). if the AES encryption is implemented correctly, we will never have a 'real' way to have softmod CFW. keep dreaming.

Can someone explain what this means to me? Does it mean there will be another Gateway card or CFW etc

Thanks

Homebrew and potentially roms without gateway (you will still need a DS flashcard compatible with 4.5 to run the gateway mode installer and a 4.5 firmware 3DS)

Well, of course, technically, this very thing *is* homebrew, so the homebrew era has already arrived.

This isn't really news. We already knew we could load custom code through the GW exploit. :\

Could and actually doing it are two entirely different things. That's like saying:

"We knew it was possible to exploit a system.
So the Gateway isn't news."

What?
GW = Gateway

The Gateway team used this exploit already, so it has already been found. Ever since Gateway released their cart, people have had the ability to load custom code through the same exploit...

Gateway allowed signed content to be run.
Yeah, totally the same thing as creating and running homebrew / custom code, i.e. a new program.
This isn't a post about finding a new exploit, it's one about actually making use of it to do something non-piracy related.

I'm glad you... know acronyms?

But could it also load roms?

Yes. Yes it did.

No, of course not. The exploit Gateway USED did not require signed content. They just chose to make their card that uses the exploit run signed content.

Yet we've been able to do it since the exploit was made public. The real question is: What did they change to run the custom content, and what can be injected
I'm glad you... know acronyms?

I'll admit I was dick on that one :P

But could it also load roms?

YOU ARE A PIRATE :tpi:
To answer your question: Possibly. But who cares? We want to make our own games and projects, not run stuff we can buy!
