Same here, 3DS box says "may", as does splinter cell. Same sort of disclaimer I've seen for years. Only difference is on the 3DS box the inclusion of "and result in removal of unauthorised content", which to me sounds no different to how they delete the homebrew channel from wii consoles when you update.

Not that I really believe any of this intentional/remote bricking nonsense anyway.

I just gotta be honest as it is right now I don't really feel the 3DS is worth purchasing what with the lineup they have. Seriously the only one I'm interested in is Pilotwings Resort and that doesn't seem to be all that worth it. I'll wait until the big names come out and wait it out to see what Nintendo does.

If I had the cash, I'm not sure if I'd buy one either. I mean, I love Nintendo, but it seems theres just not a whole lot of awesome games that are going to be released. I mean, OOT will be really cool, but I and many others have already played that game - hopefully some new games and less remakes will be released for the system. *puts on flame suit*

I look forward to them, but this isn't the point of the topic.

Many others doesn't mean all.

Out of the slim ass chance that Nintendo actually has something in thier sleeves, i "Might" wait to use a Flashcart on my 3DS (Since im keeping my DS Lite anyway).

Then again, i might just say screw it

I know...
But you know what I'd like to see?
A NEW 2D Metroid game made by Nintendo!
I just don't like the idea of remaking a whole ton of their games - Nintendo should (and most defiantly will) make new games in their top-tier franchises. And about the bricking thing? Well, if its true, I honestly can see Nintendo getting sued. But I think its all bullcrap, and I think what the warning meant to say was it would brick your flashcart. To brick one of your consumers consoles - pirating games or not - you'd have to be an assh*le of a company. And Nintendo isn't that.

Hi folks,

I just tried on European 3DS v1.0 with EZFlash Vi and last update to firmware v103.
It's working very well, no problem, no brick.

i wonder though if this has been said

with log tracking is it possible that Nintendo can deny an update to their system firmware

if your device has used a flashcart and Nintendo sees it in the log that is pushed to them, I wonder if they could selectively not give out system updates to those 3DS users who have used a flashcart

as the first tester of the newest update said (after using his flashcard again on the new firmware) that nintendo released
he mentioned that you can actualy delete everything from the system log
so i will always delete my system log and put some original old games i already own before i update xD

ok but how they will make a difference between a flashcart that show a name equivalent to a real game that they spoof?
I don't know for all flashcarts, but with the EZFlash Vi, the game name display is something official name. I don't think they can make a difference in that case.

well as many have pointed out already even if the flashcard shows up like an original game
if you have played that game for 500 hours then it means something to them
but on the other hand this isnt hard proof for nintendo to brick your system or something
so you just delete the system log and insert 2-3 different titles that you own and "da dah" you can automagically update to any newest firmware.

Ok but they will never take the risk to brick a game station on a suspicious situation. 500h play to the same game looks suspicious yes, but could happen. Nintendo would not take any risk like that...
In other case, I can already see many proceedings coming ^^

You guys are seriously looking way too much into play history logs to be worried about this.

And again, the worst thing that will happen is an update will simply prevent the card from running. There's not going to be a case-by-case analysis of what games users are playing. They didn't brick Wii consoles if they tried to run Action Replay for GC, or the Homebrew Channel.

The paranoia here is a little ridiculous.

Been playing my acekard 2i on my US 3DS for a few days. Don't plan to update anyway.

However, Nintendo can't do it. Bricking your console is the same as damaging property. When you buy the console, unlike any Terms of Agreements says, you own it completely and you can do whatever you want with it, which include pirating games and stealing from nintendo. Then again, it's not stealing as most games are utter crap and I wouldn't even buy anyway.
